This is only tangentially related but is anyone here aware of a WWI flight simulator that’s at least as good as Red Baron 3D? It was my favorite game of the early 2000s. Of course it wouldn’t run on my later computers. I have recently found it online and downloaded a copy from Grand Old Games. Works great and it’s as good as I remember. The graphics are pretty good for a game that era. I’ll never give up playing it, but I was wondering if there was a newer simulator with better graphics. I’ve seen other WWI flight games but they aren’t as good and seem to miss the point in terms of realism. I don’t want a jet powered Dr1 or some other fantastical contraption. I want planes that actually existed. I think they do that because most people wouldn’t be happy with the pace of a realistic WWI flight game. It’s not as flashy and fast as a WWII or jet fighter game. The latter I find boring because you’re shot down by someone you never see.

It has been a long time since playing any flight sims.  One of the last I tried was Rise of Flight.  It still has a free download but only includes three plane types - Spad 13, Albatros D.Va and Nieuport 17.   There are expansion packs of 36 other aircraft that can be bought individually.
