The kit was purchased about 8 years ago, I started it almost immediately, and very soon put it away!

The kit is very 80's Revell, clunky details in places, pretty poor design, vague fit (very vague where it really maters!) In the end, I was sick of the huge box staring at me from the top of the wardrobe, so pulled it down to get the job done.

The body is one piece and huge, as is the chassis pan. They had to be sprayed outside and I went with rattle cans, the colour is Skoda Racing Blue.

I did enjoy detailing the engine bay and interior. The seat decals are actually a 1/24 set from Mr Model, but they seem to portray the Camaro seat material very well.

The shell was de-badged leaving only the Camaro script on the front wing. I used the grille badge as a key fob and made up a simple wire key to fit in the ignition barrel.

Wheels/tyres are from a chap in Australia. Purchased for the Tamiya 240ZG originally, I've since bought some 3D printed wheels for the Datsun project.

That is one beautiful model!  Well finished, neat interior, well-plumbed engine bay and great paint job.  It might have fought you but the end result has got to be worth it.

That looks great. My favourite year of Camaro. I always thought of these Revell/Monogram kits as just scaled up 1/24 kits in their simplicity but yours shows what can be done with one.

It might be a fairly rubbish kit, but you turned it into a fabulous model Steve - just everything about it is stunning!

Beautiful work!!

Brilliant job on that, the end result is quite superb, the finish, the seats, the engine bay, the ........ all the rest of it too, really top shelf (but not the top of the wardrobe, too good for that. ;) :D

What a stunner, as soon as I saw it, I thought of Mark Donohue and the Trans Am.

Despite the awkwardness of the kit, you've overcome the problems with great skill and eye for detail.

Congratulations on a really impressive build 👏👏👏

Wow, Steve, what a fantastic build! It's gorgeous, what a great colour! Lovely interior and engine bay as well. Nice!

Great result! I love the colour and it is amazing how much additional realism you have been able to create with this scale. Could easily be seen as a 1:1 car.

Incredible realism, I would not have known that was a model if I had just seen those photographs anywhere but a model making forum

THAT is just outstanding! You truly captured the look. :worthy:

And while it may have fought you tooth and nail, you won...convincingly so.

And I've never seen Watanabe rims on a Chevy, but it sure DOES look good!

Probably Minilite/Superlite wheels which were a popular American racing wheel back in the 1970s. It's hard to tell between them they are so similar.

Outstanding build!

The finished car spells "master modeler", with not the slightest hint of any trouble you had building and painting it.

Amazing!  Looks fantastic with those outsourced wheels (very much like the Trans-am race car of 70's vintage).

The seats look brilliant, as do the engine details!

👏👏👏👌

I had the pleasure of seeing the blue bruiser in the flesh today, at the Brampton show. It looks even better than the photographs suggest. The minute radiator hose clamps had to be seen to be believed. A very impressive build.

Thanks Colin,

I wasn't aware of the impending rerelease. Will have a look to see which version it is. I did fancy doing a factory stock version but I really don't think it will happen.
