Ingram Posted July 7, 2024 Posted July 7, 2024 Finally brought this to a finish! It was quite the journey and I certainly learned a lot with this project. The history behind this project is, as a child I once got a Revell 1:32 scale Eurofighter. I always wanted to build this kit, but never had the proper equipment for it and it seemed too special to "ruin" it. So now, some 18 years later I thought to myself this would be perfect place to start this hobby, and finally fulfill that childhood dream. However the original 1:32 was a bit too big for my display case, so I settled for 1:72 instead. (+I always loved that scale.) Also a big thank you to the Plasmo Youtube channel for inspiring many of the techniques and pushing me to do quite a bit of scratch building on this model! Hope you enjoy it! Process over here: And last but not least lighter for scale: 63 1
2lefthands Posted July 7, 2024 Posted July 7, 2024 Thats an impressive 1/72 model! And great photos too! 1
Lupo Rosso Posted July 7, 2024 Posted July 7, 2024 Wow, That's nice! The subtle weathering looks great! 1
Alpha Delta 210 Posted July 7, 2024 Posted July 7, 2024 Mightily impressive start to the hobby! It would look great with the 1/32 version! 1
GMK Posted July 8, 2024 Posted July 8, 2024 I’m no fan of the Eurofighter, but this is absolutely lovely work! 10/10. Love it. 1
Ingram Posted July 8, 2024 Author Posted July 8, 2024 (edited) Thank you very much everyone! Much appreciate the kind words! @GMK I agree 😅 But I have to admit it grew on me while building and researching it. In the end it‘s an impressive machine. : ) @Alpha Delta 210 maybe I‘ll build it one day. I‘ll make sure to post to post the progress here!^^ But first, there is a long list of beautiful planes that need building. Edited July 8, 2024 by Ingram 1 1
Tomcat101 Posted July 8, 2024 Posted July 8, 2024 I love the build and the photography. Well done on both! 1
Dave Klaatu Posted July 8, 2024 Posted July 8, 2024 Very well done, looks great! I love 1/72, it's all I build. Although there's less detail, it has a lot going for it- Less expensive Takes up less space King of the hill when it comes to subject availability- when you want to build something, you're more likely to be able to find it in 1/72, and probably more than one company. 1
Ingram Posted July 9, 2024 Author Posted July 9, 2024 Thank you! @Dave Klaatu that is very true. Also I actually love the challenge of creating the most tiny details possible. The availability is also a big thing! Especially when it comes to bigger aircrafts.
wellsprop Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 @Ingram stunning Typhoon! Like you, I also built the 1 /32 Revell Typhoon as a child, it was one of the kits that I remember fondly 🙂 1
Ingram Posted July 9, 2024 Author Posted July 9, 2024 @wellsprop thank you a lot! : ) Will you revisit the kit one day?
PATRICK FROM THE SANDS Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 Whaoo! Not a fan of the Typhoon as well but yours is absolutely superb! Paint job and weathering are very subtle, very convincing at that scale! Great 72eme! 1
Ingram Posted July 10, 2024 Author Posted July 10, 2024 Thank you a lot @PATRICK FROM THE SANDS! This is great to hear : )
bigbadbadge Posted July 10, 2024 Posted July 10, 2024 Looks lovely, great work . I love watching Plasmo too, check out his build of the Felixstowe flying boat, that is amazing. Cracking Typhoon. Chris 1
Navy Bird Posted July 10, 2024 Posted July 10, 2024 Very nicely done. I have this same kit in the stash and I hope to start it soon. I'll go for a scheme that is more colourful than the low-viz greys, maybe an anniversary or testing scheme. We'll see. Cheers, Bill 1
Ingram Posted July 11, 2024 Author Posted July 11, 2024 Thank you! @bigbadbadge I‘ve seen this one, it‘s great indeed! I also really like his ah-1z viper. Not the cleanest of his builds, but very inspiring imo. @Navy Bird this sounds great! Looking forward to it! I was actually in the process of building this Typhoon into the 98+07 with the orange pieces, before I decided on a regular tranche 3 variant. I think they also had some nice alternative paint jobs at times. 2
