Kallisti Posted July 6 Posted July 6 (edited) Had this kit for years and always wanted to build it but knew I wanted to build the launch rail as well which put me off for a long time until now... Fireball XL-5 is about 18" long and the base is 60cm long - mixed units, don't you love 'em! Hunter Rose Posted July 6 Posted July 6 Kits like this take a lot of skill and patience and you've done a cracking job, nice one! 1
ArnoldAmbrose Posted July 7 Posted July 7 G'day @Kallisti, congratulations on your completion. It's very well done. Seeing it brings back memories of my youth, and I just HAD to watch a launch clip just now. 🙂 Regards, Jeff. 1 1
Pete in Lincs Posted July 7 Posted July 7 Absolutely spot on. I was almost waiting for the rocket motors to fire. 2 1
Darwinism Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Great work Kallisti - I particularly love the natural metal finish on the fuselage. I somehow missed watching Fireball XL-5 as a kid - must see if there are any episodes on YouTube. 1
AT7GMK Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Good morning Kallisti, You have just made an old man very happy! Such a wonderful model, you have brought back memories of my youth. Superb finish and scratch building, thank you. Cheers, Nigel. 1
TonyW Posted July 9 Posted July 9 First Class work. It's going to take the rest of the day to get the smile from my face. 1
Head in the clouds. Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Nice work and scratchbuilding, I imagine it is an imposing model. The yellow paint work is flawless, a tricky colour to get right.
Gimme Shelter Posted July 12 Posted July 12 so I have seen this built and 'in the resin' and it is quite superb - at first glance, it really does take you straight into a sense of seeing the model as if it were in the Anderson's studio environment and set-up ready for filming - totally convincing
Donald Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Wonderful. I can just about remember this being on the telly - probably as repeats in B&W on our huge 14 inch screen. What a great looking model. Thanks for sharing. 1
internationalrescue Posted July 16 Posted July 16 Phenomenal job! Really enjoyed your build; thanks for sharing! 1
Uncle Monty Posted July 20 Posted July 20 Superb job all round, including the amazing scratch building. I believe Reg Hill designed this one, he'd be very pleased to see such a quality build. 1

Kallisti Posted July 21 Author Posted July 21 From the size of the seats in the cockpit this looks like its about 1:144 scale
HL-10 Posted July 22 Posted July 22 Absolutely fantastic! Another spectacular build you have there! Very well done 1
Carts Posted July 30 Posted July 30 Now that's a thing of sheer beauty, could do without being reminded of how old I'm getting though😀👍 2 1
Adler Leon Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Beautifully finished, top class work on the sratch building. L 1
kapam Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Superb! Warms the heart of a Gerry Anderson fan to see this work, so perfectly executed. From a very crude kit and excellent scratch-building you’ve made a masterpiece! 👏👏👏 1
