That's a bit of a shock. I'm glad you are out of hospital so soon, that can only be a good sign. Let the old noggin rewire itself a bit and things will hopefully be right back where they were.

Best wishes from this end,

Tony.

Though right back where I was won't include LSK for all those Monogram car kits in the auction that's coming up!

my question would be "will I be able to complete vac form models?

Exactly! Glancing into the hobby room, I looked at the unfinished G-SPUD and thought that waving a sharp knife around could be very entertaining!

you will be back to lead us in the Railways 200 GB next year.

I fully intend to be! Maybe in a Fat Controller kind of role, but hopefully a whole lot more than that.

kit plastic will still be there once you've had a good rest.

It's true, plastic will outlast us all. Though I am learning about neuroplasticity at the moment.

Yikes.. That's nasty to hear, though by the sounds of it, it's kind of under control. Scary stuff though and I'll be sending oddball-esque "positive waves"  for sure 😁

You take care now eh...

Sorry to hear about the health troubles. The brain is plastic... it rewires and relearns given the effort. My mother had a mild stroke moons ago and she is tiptop and razor sharp these days out in the garden levelling the grass, managing her household and putting me to shame.

Thanks for all the love and support fellow BMers I'm really feeling it.

Today or maybe this month the lesson is patience- I keep hoping tomorrow will be the day I get to try painting. But this GB will roll neatly into KUTA if need be.

In the meantime, I' getting lots of vicarious pleasure (plastic voyeurism) on here, and plenty of fine motor skills work prattling along replying.

Power to the plastic / resin/ pewter people y'all!

Look after yourself MJ. No sharp knives or superglue until you're ready for them ;)

And I'm back! After the enforced and extended break, I've picked up a paintbrush and did some swatches. Went far better than I feared- talking to a friend who also had a stroke it seems the fear of doing things is as debilitating as actually tying to do them which is usually easier than expected.

Enough! Here's the 'beauty contest' for deck colour:

Much as I'd love to use the Great Eastern freight grey on the left I think one of middle pair is most likely. Most probably the '78'

Glad you're back.  Well done!  :clap2:

Having never done a "boat" I'm not in a position to comment.  Choose what seems best and I'll believe you 😁

cheers

Welcome back. :D

That Matt 120 is a nice looking colour. Very soft somehow. Just the job for a forties American car build, if not a sixties car ferry.

More opening up a bit of discussion, sans pint. ;)

The quieter colour does seem to me to follow the box top more than the 78. It's possible to overthink a subject but my take on painting small stuff is to go a bit lighter with paint choices. AFV modellers seem to do this a lot and the results can be outstanding.

Sorry, complete misunderstanding - I thought it was a hint that I should get myself something from AMT/ Lindberg etc for this...

As fro the Free Enterprise, I've settled on the deck (colour) but you're right the hull is a completely different kettle of fish; will probably involve studying the Vallejo range or maybe something railway but it is very pale, especially in photos of the original.

Should be sticking things, other than my fingers, together today.

Me also - a rare and unusual build.

You asked, and unusually I delivered!  It still seems wrong to build a ship from the stern forwards rather than the keel up; but there is some sort of sense in it. To the pictures...

Most of the main deck (upper car deck) is hidden by the stern promenade deck, but will be visible when the stern door is open; assuming I make it openable!

There's a very over-scale gap at the base of it, for nimble finders to get in and flip it open.. So far no fingers have been stuck together so there is hope for nimble fingers when the time comes!
