1. This isn't getting done in time for the end of the group build! 🫤

Just think with a little more effort......😉

How about some paint, that would be my suggestion....

Not wanting to be critical, for once. Can anything be done for the odd edges of the pe  zimm are lifting? Probably the camera angle and the shadow but it draws the eye. Could always disguise with a tarp or foliage if necessary.

Sorry for pointing it out feel like a right party pooper.

Otherwise looking forward to seeing it painted. 👍

There is a slight lift ..... I'll look to see if it can be flattened .... or cunningly disguised it!

It's the one negative thing with the PE zimmerit.

Excellent idea!

Hopefully a bit more time can be managed today, so let's see where we end up ....

It's looking really good, Keith. No point rushing it to meet an arbitrary deadline ;)

Today, in a rare period of sustained modelling, I took @Jasper dogs advice and got painting .... after fitting yet more photoetch and here we are ....

Everything's had a coat of dunkelgelb and a misting of rotbraun ...

This won't be finished, but I do feel happy that I've moved the build on quite a bit.

Getting the paint on is a good step in the right direction.  As usual I left too much to do in the last few days, I've been painting shovels and other tools, exhaust pipes, you name it today, but that's a problem trying to build 3 tanks in a GB, seems doable but in practice they all have paint on and tracks, it's the time consuming detail painting and attaching all the greeblies. :wall:

Here we are then Tiger fans .... another small update ....

Time has not been a kind mistress and I've only managed a short period at the table, but enough to add the olivegrun to the camo scheme ....

Next stage is a coat of gloss varnish ready for decals and the wear and weathering.  There will be a delay in starting though as I have a plan to invade Cornwall later this week for some well deserved R and R :hobbyhorse:

As always, comments welcome!

And non fans, but fans of great models. Cammo looks very good Keith. Nice work. Enjoy Cornwall, and not too many pasties and cream teas!

The camo turned out really well. This will prove an excellent base for weathering.

Enjoy your holiday. I'm off to germany for a week starting this friday.

Take care mate!

Greetings tank fans!  Having successfully invaded Cornwall along with a few other tourists, basked in the sun, paddled in the sea, ravaged their cream tea and pasty stocks and safely returned, it's time to get back on the build, so here's a small update after a couple of hours at the table ....

After all the effort with the photoetch I was beginning to wonder if I could subject myself to any more, but then I looked at the tow cables and thought I should, so here goes ....

The PE calls for the plastic mounts to be removed and replaced with PE clasps, leaving the original cable and barrel cleaning rods .....  can't have that I decided, so the butchery commenced .....

Eyes removed and new cable cut from a length of Fields of Glory 1.0mm product

20240809_200937

All unwanted plastic removed and the ends drilled with a 1.2 mm drill to accept the cable .....

20240809_201036

I then made new cleaning rods from 1.0mm brass rod, attached the eyed with black CA glue and made up the new clamps, then attached to the hull ....

20240809_214951

But wait!  There's a nasty gap in the zimmeritt ......

Luckily, while away, I sourced some woodland lichen (from the woodland on the site I was on) that will suffice for foliage, so I have a plan to disguise the pesky gap :phew:

And another shot ....

20240809_215030

There's a bit of work to do on the cables as they don't sit in the correct place on the rear deck yet and painting obviously.

I'm planning to leave to track pulling cable off the side and just fit the mounts and clasps for it unless I can find some fine wire to make a new cable ....

Anyway, comments welcome as always!

Like the idea of the foliage to hide the gap! Most my builds involve finding something else to cover some thing I’m not happy with. Plus it’ll add another bit of deatil to look at.
Also really like the brass rods and tows, looks pretty sharpe mate.

How about parkerized steel colour in the gap with off-white edges to the damaged zim?

Just a thought....................................

Now that is a thought, and a very good one at that!

Thank you ... I'll look into this!
