Keeff
We interupt this chit-chat to bring you news of actual modelling ...... I know, it's shocking Despite popular belief, and a lull in mojo, little bits are getting done .... I decided to check the wheels, and discovered I'd stuck some together incorrectly .... they should have been closer together ... so after cursing the instruction diagram and using TET to loosen the joints, these were put right More fiddling with the photoetch .... and an attack with a rotary tool on the zimmeritt to add damage ..... And the inner wheels stuck together .... (thanks for the tip Mr Nightshift!) So that's where we're at ..... Comments welcome as always! Keith 😁

I managed to get quite a bit of painting done...unfortunately it was a new dining room door and the frame. But now that's out of the way I can get back to my modelling, hopefully! I did some final camo paint touch ups on my JT and the glossed it with some Klear. I had tried to rush through this before going to dog sit, In my hurry I grabbed the wrong bottle, I put some water into my airbrush, added some Tamiya thinner and sprayed. Then wondered why my JT hadn't gone shiny.
Muchmirth
Liking the Pe Keith. Nicely gnarled up in sections. Nice one on get to the wheels glued in a bunch too, something I’ve seen but never managed to do myself! Paul

Dads203
I’m not a big fan of the PE Zim sets but I must say you have done a mighty fine job of working it into a really nice build. The standard for this build is set to be really high 🫡 1

Keeff
So here we are again! A couple of hours at the operating table tonight and more progress ..... The turret zimmeritt has been forced into submission after a short struggle and is now well and truly being held in place ... I also attacked the turret stowage bin, removing the hangers, catches and hinges on one side, scribing the lid edges and adding a little damage by accident ( well isn't that how most damage occurs? ) and adding the PE. I've left one side with the mouldings on for comparison ... That's the end of the update .... not much really! 🤣 Keith 😁
81-er
It's looking good, Keith. I think the catches look nicer in that PE than the ones that came with my Airfix kit James
Jasper dog
Hadn't even considered the pe zimm on the curved turret, however looks like you've mastered it. Hadn't thought to ask before what are you using to glue the zimm to the plastic? The catches on the bin really look the part too. Not envious in the slightest about the amount of bench time some folk get.... Cheers Darryl

Keeff
Welcome Tiger fans to another update! There's been alot of metal bending, eye straining and some choice words involved, but the tools are now on the deck .... I made the shovel from 1mm brass rod and the Eduard parts as the kit one was not great. I've managed some time on the airbrush so have primed the inner rear hull and vents on the deck and given the wheels and sprockets a light shadow coat (they'll be primed red before the top coat) Hoping to get some more table time soon to get this progressing. As always, comments welcome! Keith 😁
81-er
That's looking very nice, Keith, I really like the fully brass spade. Are the etched tool clamps workable? James

Jasper dog
Nice to see you getting your finger out, at last, Keith. Good call on prepainting inside the hull and grills, just catches the eye when you see a nice model and then notice the bare plastic inside or beneath the grill. Nice pe work too, spade looks good On 06/07/2024 at 11:53, Keeff said: The tool clamps don't work ... Shame about the clamps. As I pointed out recently to the wife's niece when she excitedly told us she's just got a 2:1 degree. "What a shame, just think, if you'd just tried a little harder you could have had a 1st..." I was only trying to be nice..... Great work.

Yes open mouth insert boot. Of course I’d then point out that most firsts ( certainly in Engineering) are so nerdy and afraid of crowds and loud noises as to be all but unemployable, but somehow that never seems to help….

It's all a bit of good humoured banter, I like to think folk would have been disappointed with anything less. 😉 (If you can't think of the one person in your family, or group of friends, then the chances are its probably...) 3
Keeff
At risk of 'slacking' (as if! 🤣), there's been a bit more activity so here's a little update ..... 1. This isn't getting done in time for the end of the group build! 🫤 2. I decided to engage in some research and ordered new decals for a Tiger of Pz. Abt. 101 in Normandy 1944 3. Some paint has been chucked about with the airbrush ... There's still a way to go with this one .... As always, baracking, advice, 'help' and your comments welcome!
