Mes amis, as seems to be the general custom with Group Builds, I've allowed this one out of it's tub in the loft with no guarantee of getting finished.

I present to you Tamiyas Mid Production with an Eduard 'Big Ed' photoetch set ....

I'll be building this as (another) tank 131 of Panzer Abteilung 101 deployed in Normandy 1944 .... how timely!

So, without further delay, let the shenanigans begin! 😬

I liked building this one. It’s fairly typical tamiya, everything just fits brilliantly.  You’ll hopefully find this an enjoyable build too. 👍

Ooooh and a photo etch zimm set too?

Never built a Tamiya Tiger, really should remedy that. I've been led to believe if you pour the TET into the box, give it a good shake, leave overnight and voila! A built Tiger rolls out the other end.....

Keep it clean, please.  This is a family friendly forum not some sort of grubby little fly-by-night!

Well, due to a break in idle chit-chat and getting all my jobs done, I earned some time at the operating table and progress has been made ...

Axles and back plate fitted and that lovely PE zimmeritt added.  I had to trim the side ones down to allow the side fenders to fit in the correct place.  Luckily there's a handy line on the hull to work from ...

At the front, I added some damage ...

Other bits glued together .... gun barrels ( here are two for some reason!), breach assembly and exhausts ...

And the PE zimmeritt added to the mantlet .... taken on the instructions to show how many bits there are!

And a closer shot ....

That's as far as I got but as always, comments and banter welcome!

Was it easy enough to add the battle damage? 👌👍

Not really .... although the PE is thin, I found it difficult to cut with a knife and cutters without distorting the metal while keeping it realistic.

I'd like to add some more in other areas, but need to think of a method ..... I'm considering using my Dremel type tool and grinding it away ...

It's looking good, Keith. I think a Dremel is probably the best way to tackle damaging the PE (and also kinder on your knife blades)

Sirs pe work looks really tidy. Been wanting to try one of these sets for a while. (Purely because I bought some before I "knew better" years ago).

I can imagine adding damage could be  tricky,  particularly once glued into position. A small chisel might have worked or better still if you can get them fine tin snips. (Both best prior to fitting I'd suggest). That said what you've done looks good anyway.  The zim I seem to recall would sometimes come away in regular sections, following the line of the pattern.

Anyway Sirs done very very well, haven't you, Sir.

Three cheers for Sir!

Why thank you my good man.

I did the damage bits before fitting and the general fit is very good.  I noticed that there are 2 applicator tools on the PE fret ..... might be useful in the future!

Now, for being kind and complimentary,  you may have an hour off to work on a project I hear you're doing .....

One of the best tools to cut p/e that I bought were a pairof Xuron p/e snips, long thin blades so you can cut the stuff off the fret, trim and clean up the part without it, they would allow you to cut off random bits to simulate damage.

Same here, damn stuff just keeps on growing, should have had a gravel bed that I could rake when I needed to de-stress.
