I'm in sunny Ibiza for a week and here's a few classics I have spotted. Can't believe how nearly every car is so dusty,  like they've been taking part in a rally .

There's been loads more , but not always quick enough to snap them .

One thing I noticed in Europe is how many old cars have survived compared to over here. I presume it is due to all the salt which gets sloshed over the roads when it gets below about 5 degrees in winter. I was in Italy last year and it was amazing how may of the original Fiat Pandas are still buzzing around the place.

Maybe just a different attitude, and/or higher values of used cars? Even in France I usually get several hundred photos every year we visit - each time I think there won't be so many, but I always manage to see some fantastic older things.

Renault 6! Something I'm always particularly keen to see when visiting France.

Nice to see this is still around.  I thought the owner must have sold it, as it wasn't on his drive any more.  Hopefully he puts it in a garage instead.

In the last week or so I've seen a Ford Corsair and a bunch of other antique Fords, including two Mk.1 Escort estates in pristine condition.  But today's highlight was following an NSU Ro80 for a couple of miles.  The scent of that old-school engine was wonderful.

Definitely the lack of road salt in the winter on Ibiza. I livened up a rather boring island tour coach trip by car spotting . And for me , an Ibiza newby , I didn't realise it was such a pine forest clad island with some great,  smooth tarmac challenging roads . A great place to hold a tarmac rally . Ibiza's not all about clubbing and superstar DJ's .

Yes it will be warm winters not requiring roads to be salted, and possibly less sea spray at least around coastal towns. Elevation plays a part too. Cars in Johannesburg, 6 hours from the nearest ocean and 5,700 feet up in the air, which meant no winter weather, didn't rust. Cars in Durban, warm and sunny nearly all year around, rusted like it was a mission objective in the sea spray and weather rolling in from the Indian Ocean.

I got overtaken today on the A2 at Gravesend going towards London. It was the black Ford GT with the silver stripes that won Le Mans in 1966,though it might not have been as it wasn’t race number 2,think it was no. 6. Going a bit faster than me!

I really fancied one of those for years. It was my favourite of the '90s Japanese coupes. I missed the boat though. Prices have rocketed and trying to find a straight, unmodified one isn't easy.

This one appears to be driven by a rabbit.

Oddly enough, while house-hunting recently I came across an (apparently) unmodified red one close by on a J-Plate, at the very least it certainly didn't have the massive rear wing. I might be completely wrong, but it looked more UK spec than the one in your photo.

Going back to the rusting subject, I still think that whether salt is used on the roads is a bigger indicator of rust likelihood than being near the coast (not saying being near the coast is good, but not as bad as salt). And as supporting evidence, here's one I took 12 years ago in Picton - not particularly polished up or anything but apparently regularly used and not a garage queen. There was a Mk1 Escort in front of it too when I first arrived, but I was desperate for caffeine and by the time I had tea ready that had gone.

Coming home from watching the final of a Secondary Schools Quadrangular rugby Tournament, in which my old Alma Mater had triumphed 53-35 over a prominent Chrichchurch school (I was incredibly impressed at the standard & intensity of the game) & feeling coffee deprived with stopped into the cafe at the Nelson Classic Car Museum. This was on display outside.

A 1969 (I think) Mustang GT Fastback.

Today while out & about, I snapped this 197- Pontiac Le Mans, helluva colour. :(

& then on the way back followed this 1955 FJ Holden, quite an iconic car to Kiwis & Aussies.

Photo from the Carjam website.

Also saw a 1972 Land Rover Series IIa recently converted from a hard top to a track cab by the look of the panels on the back of the cab, registered as green & white but green & aluminium just now.

Trundling along the M27/A31 junction last night, a pale blue Fiesta mk.1 Ghia.  Then outside the pub a lovely black 404 convertible.  B reg so 1964, probably recent age-related plate as LHD and French instrumentation (carburant for fuel and a speedo to 170!).

PS forgot to mention the Austin 7 boat-tail 2 seater; not sure of the name for this body style but not as extreme as an Ulster.

That's a '67 Mustang. 🙂  The LeMans is a '71...  not sure about the half-baked Judge makeover, and those wheels 😵‍💫

Visiting daughter & family in Hampshire again this weekend, and on the M4/A34/A31 on the way up - Corvette C4 on a trailer, dark green P reg Toyota Soarer - looked nice apart from the big dent in the front wing - very bright yellow Austin Healey 100, some 1930's ish tourer, dunno what it was other than tiny and looking very vunerable surrounded by SUV's & 44 ton artics, and finally when turning into daughter's road had to wait for a lovely pale yellow MGA.

Oh, and in Chieveley services a modern Ferrari of some description - didn't have badges so have no idea on the model, but it sounded great. And it was red!!

Thanks for sorting that, the 69 was a guess from memory, then I found I'd also snapped a photo on the info placard, which would have told me 67. :( The Pontiac was pure typo, it was 'sposed to be 70, if it wasn't for it being such a rare car for around here, I'd probably have kept going, it wasn't the paint job that attracted me. :) Each to their own I guess.

Just been sent to Tesco for supplies, and parked outside a house near daughters was a lovely Ford Pop hotrod in beige with brown wings - gorgeous tasteful paintjob. Then on the way home another Healey 100, this time in red over cream!

Seen more today than in the rest of June!

On my way home on Wednesday I saw 3 generations of Mercedes SL, in reverse chronological order. First was a ruby R129 going the opposite way, then I was following a bright red R107 for a while, and after that a silver pagoda SL passed me going the other way. All with the top down.

Well I've seen 2 today, so only 7 to go....!!

They were some kind of Healey. I think....!! 🤣

(If they don't have a blue oval badge on them I usually struggle!!)

(& the missus would smack me around the back of the head with a wet kipper if I started trying to take pics of cars going the other way... :tease: )

PS - second one did look very much like this;
