I posted a photo of  this car in an earlier SOTD thread, but I saw it again and got a better look. One of the vets at our local vet clinic owns it and it's a daily driver.

It's been repainted but otherwise it looks pretty original, the interior is definitely unrestored and in good condition.

Not sure how I identified it in the previous thread but I think it's an Alvis factory TA-21 DHC, 1950 or so.

I've seen it on the road and chased it a few times, definitely a quick car! Not embarrassed in modern traffic, quite the opposite in fact.

One day I'll catch up with the owner and have a talk about it.

I'm just so pleased to see a car like this on the road and regularly driven...

People who still drives gems like this, be it as their weekend driver or daily beater, who are not afraid of showing their pride and joy for everyone, are doing the public services by sharing their passion, both directly and indirectly. They made commuters' days that little bit brighter, be it those stuck in their econobox or those who passes by in a bus after a tiring day.

A few classics this week: an M-reg Avenger Tiger being followed by a lowered MM series Morris Minor and a similarly modified 100E.  A 1967 F Morris Traveller being attended by the AA 😐, and today, a 1958 Ford F100 as well as the 1960 F100 I pass by most days.

I definite;y agree with that!

New Ferrari or a regular old car. whether special in some way or just notable because it's survived, it's always good to see them on the road.

My wife went to the local show (agricultural show, I think most in the UK will know what I mean) last night and there were some interesting vehicles in the parade- a couple of Model A Fords, a Ferguson TED-20 (like mine but restored, not a working tractor) and  Massey-Ferguson 135.

The first tractor I learnt to drive was a 135 and it's a bit confronting to see it on display as a historic vehicle!!!

Between Keighley and Kirkby Lonsdale yesterday and today, packs (3 or 4) of orange and black Hillman Avenger and Chrysler Sunbeam rally cars . I no assume it’s some club get together on the road!

best,

M.

I know that feeling!  The first one I ever drove was a Massey Ferguson 35 at about the age of 12 on my grandfather's fen just outside Bourne, Lincs.

Last night, a silver Rover SDI vanden plas mk2 SDI.

Today in the New Forest, I’m not sure if the rarer spot was the P-reg silver Proton or the slightly older red MG Maestro!

Spent the weekend with my Lad at Silverstone for the F1.  It was a good race, however if I'm being honest I preferred these beautys

At what age do you lose interest in new Ferraris?  This was in the car park (for those of you who have never been, think more of a very muddy and hilly field they charge you a fortune to park in).  I know it a Ferrari by the badge, but as to which model, no idea.

I did lust after this 355

Until I saw this Aston Martin Volante

Well, that's a Roma Spider.  In a very odd colour.  It makes the grille look like part of a garden chair that's been upcycled.  Or even the side of my laundry basket.

Thanks @Toftdale for the snap of the Leyton House March F3000 car . I've no idea what Leyton House was , but I think that blue is one of the nicest colours in all of motorsport !

Yep, that's the worst colour I have yet seen on a Roma, no contest.

Confession time - I actually quite like the colour on that (even if the car doesn't do as much for me as a Ferrari should).

If I remember rightly they were a Japanese bank. I think they may have gone under when the Japanese property bubble collapsed at the end of the '80s.

Seen a few older things on the morning commute, like a tidy J-reg Audi 80, mid-late '90s Mazda 323F and regular sighting of a lowered and loud S-reg Lexus LS400 that's always very clean. This tidy BX was parked-up today:

1991 Citroen BX 17 TZD Turbo

1991 Citroen BX 17 TZD Turbo

If I see any BXs as tidy as this when I go to France later this month I'll be happy.

On the way back from the Hailsham show on Saturday, I spotted a white BX saloon in pristine condition.  The guy must have liked them - his number plate was BXI 19.

I'm not an F1 fan so I had to look up the Hesketh- interesting story.

I knew about the motorcycles though!

The two terms "Citroen BX" and "happy" cramped together in one sentence without any negation between them look strange to me.

I love (most) french cars, but the BX is - well, no; I don't like it! That is since I was driving cabs around Vienna as a student and all I got was one of those BX Diesels - horrible cars. No power steering, unpleasant and after a whole day in it you get headaches from the diesel fumes. No, these wheren't cars made for driving pleasure. 😉

Here is a Volvo FH 16 with 750 HP (the most powerful series truck)
very rare with 2 axles. This type can otherwise be seen as a heavylift truck with 3 or 4 axles -

here with a 1 axle flower trailer for fastest delivery!

That's one up on the Citroen Berlingo I used to do flower deliveries in. Don't think the undertakers would have been too impressed me backing that up to their office mind.

The Dutch always used to stop at the shop with their artics, trying to offload any leftover stock on their way home.

Me too, I think it's a lovely colour - and I'm fairly sure I have a bottle of Splash paint in that colour for a future build! I don't like the car either.

I was about 60 I think....!! 🤣 I've seen two or three recently that I have no idea what model they were - including one I watched reversing out of a parking space in Chievley services. It was red, made a nice noise but was totally unhelpful in having no badges on the back (other than Ferrari - and without that I wouldn't even have known the make!) to say what model it was!
