Homebee Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 (edited) Fly Models is to release a 1/72nd Culver PQ-14 kit. Source: Scale Aircraft Modelling magazine V.P. Edited September 23, 2024 by Homebee 1
Fukuryu Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 Curious. We are getting TWO new injection-moulded kits of the PQ-14? Even more curious, Scalemates makes no reference to the already announced Clear Prop kit. Could this be a mix-up? Or the project changed company, perhaps?

Clear Prop already showed a built 1/48 kit in Japan. And are going to release it in 1/72 too. Maybe scalemates just has wrong information, which is known to happen.
Branky Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 At the Moson Show in Hungary there was a 1/48 sprue of the Culver on display, along with a 1/72 DH88 Comet. Main attraction was the F86A however
Whirly Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 Seen the same announcement in the latest Scale Aircraft Modelling magazine, together with a Besson MB-411 (?) french hydroplane and a "PAC PC-4" in 1/72. This latest one seems a CT-4 Airtrainer from the 3D rendering. A welcome release in my view, especially if they will get the correct fuselage cross section which Tasman totally missed.
Hornet133 Posted May 29, 2024 Posted May 29, 2024 Pacific Aerospace Corporation is the current holder of the manufacturing rights for the airtourer/ airtrainer design. PAC PC-4 is just a designation used by them for the airframe, more commonly known as the airtrainer in military service. There was also a small number sold to civil operators. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PAC_CT/4_Airtrainer for details 2

ModelMod Posted September 23, 2024 Posted September 23, 2024 (edited) <POST BASED UPON FALSE ASSUMPTION, SO REMOVED> Edited September 23, 2024 by Mike Incorrect conflation of Fly Model with KP/AZ Model
Piotr Mikolajski Posted September 23, 2024 Posted September 23, 2024 1 hour ago, ModelMod said: AZ Model / KP / Fly Fly is separate company.

The recent Fly kits do seem to have a lot in common with AZ; mostly, the same box artist (Carlos Alonso), similar decals and general style. AZ also acquired the Pavla moulds, including this Culver ..... Which still shows the same incorrect yellow colour scheme, when the USAAF drones were International Orange .....

Oh noes, the Culver in the Clear Prop boxart is yellow too and boxarts for both Culvers were also painted by Alonso. Certainly another AZ/KP brand. Going further, IBG Models and Eduard have a lot in common, because both companies released Fw 190D kits, the boxarts for them were painted by Antonis Karidis. On top of that, both companies released separate dual combo boxes with D-9 and D-11 with exactly the same five markings from the JV 44. Both manufacturers are using sliding moulds, both also ordered decals from Cartograf, both in their Fw 190D-11 boxes have markings of "White < 58" and "White < 61" used by VFS des G.d.J. from Bad Wörishofen. Irrefutable proofs of a Czech-Polish conspiracy. Knowledge of the modelling industry is not mandatory, but if you are making or supporting accusations of this scale and equating one company with another, known for unethical actions, it would be appropriate to back up these accusations with very solid evidence and not just Personal Deep Belief Based On Gods Know What.

I have multiple examples of both AZ and Fly kits and thus feel a little entitled to comment. Fly are definitely in some sort of collaboration with AZ: recently AZ has issued 2-seat Ansaldos which are the modified Fly tooling with additional cockpits added (they conveniently omitted the broader-chord wings they should also have ...). In the same way, they have collaborated with Stransky, CMR, Smer and other Czech producers. Do you dispute that, also ? It's totally Muzikant's M.O. I recently bought the new Fly Ca100 kit and the presentation (box/instructions/decals) is totally similar to the AZ stable, which the older Fly kits were not. The plastic is better than usual AZ and has been designed by someone else, maybe Stransky.
