Karearea Posted May 31 Posted May 31 Would it be ‘turnkey’? - maybe a rough test build ready for perusal? Doesn’t quite fit the meaning but I’m likewise stumped.
VMA131Marine Posted May 31 Posted May 31 I suspect “turkeys” refers to the decals or marking options, or it could be the instructions. Those are things you would expect to see for a new kit. Not being fluent in Polish, I’ve no idea how they got to turkeys but suspect it came out of a machine translation. 2
Stephen Posted May 31 Posted May 31 It's to be announced at 0900CET tomorrow according to the latest Arma email. 1
Creepy Pete Posted May 31 Posted May 31 In the original Polish post, and not the bad FB translation: 👉Ujawnimy najnowszą nowość: model klasycznego amerykańskiego myśliwca z II wojny światowej w skali 1/48: próbne wtryski, kalkomanie, pudełko! Kalkomanie, so decals. I guess the FB translation software thinks it looks like the word "kalkoen" or "kalkun", which is the Dutch/Scandinavian and other related languages for turkey (the bird). 3

What you quoted translates to: "We will reveal our newest item: model of classic American WW2 fighter in 48th scale: test sprues, decals and box." 1 2
Giorgio N Posted June 1 Posted June 1 The reference to the turkeys makes it clear: the new kit will be an F-14 Tomcat! This aircraft was known as the turkey and we all know that two squadrons served in WW2 when USS Nimitz was brought back in time by a magnetic storm 🤣🤣🤣 3 11

I dont know if they could even compete to be honest. A brand new Tamiya P-38 goes for between $80-$100 locally if I can find them ? I seriously doubt Arma would be that expensive. I love Tamiya and so do many people I know. However they're pricing themselves out of business if you ask me ? Honestly no one I know can afford their kits in the current price range. We go for cheaper alternatives and put in the work ? 1

Here the Arma Hobby Hurricane retails for £50 ( they were £45 before the latest price rise ), the Tamiya P-38 £60 ( you can get them for around £50 ) and the Tamiya Spitfire £36. I suspect a Arma P-38 would be around £80 which just wouldn't sell up against the Tamiya kit. 2
Karearea Posted June 1 Posted June 1 (edited) Looks like it’s a P-39Q! Should be a lovely kit. https://www.armahobby.com/40010-p-39q-airacobra-1-48.html And a 1/72 P-51D… Edited June 1 by Karearea Added link 4

This is a completely new product with new plastic sprues from Arma Hobby. What's in the box? The kit we present as the first one contains decals and markings for the Q version, but the sprues allow you to build "straight from the box" also the other main versions of the aircraft: from P-39D/P-400 to P-39N and Q. The set includes three propeller and nose variants, bombs, fuel tanks, two types of nose wheel and various armament variants. The lavish cockpit interior is clearly visible through the open doors. The front wheel leg can be easily installed after painting the entire model - just one click and a drop of glue. The stability of the model is ensured by the convenient loading of steel balls (included). Kit pre-order The P-39 Airacobra model kit is undergoing final corrections of the test sprues. Apart from the sprues, all elements of the first 1/48 P-39Q boxing are already waiting in our warehouse. We expect the kits to be shipped in the second half of June. Pre-order will start in the first week of June and will include promotional bundles with several kits, free resin seats with belts (3D printed) and a large selection of 3D files with accessories for self-printing. Tbolt Posted June 1 Posted June 1 Nice. Hopefully they will correct the errors, all beit fairly minor, from their 1/72nd kit. 1 1
Karearea Posted June 1 Posted June 1 The turkey options on the 1/72 kits are definitely more interesting, but I’ll wait to see what later boxings bring. 2

redracer Posted June 1 Posted June 1 This release makes sense. There were a lot of P-39 variants and they were flown by a lot of airforces in WW2. Arma will get lots of milage out of this kit. The Eduard P-39 must be nearing the end of its tooling life considering the technology used when that kit was first produced. The Hasegawa P-39 is a wonderful kit except they have been off the market for a long time. The old Monogram designed kit is a great kit also, and a lovely build, but it dates back to the Apollo moon landing era of 1968 or so. Personally I had hoped for a late F4U but this makes economic sense and I will certainly purchase it. Heck Arma could even do the postwar racing variants. 6
SprueMan Posted June 1 Posted June 1 (edited) I cannot say it is a surprise, but its nice nonetheless. Hope the sprues will be shown soon. Shame the schemes are so basic though, but no doubt there will be more boxings such as an Italian and Soviet-Ukrainian and Soviet-Polish one and, if we are lucky, a post war raceplane. Edited June 1 by SprueMan spelling, mostly 2
2996 Victor Posted June 1 Posted June 1 Well, although not a huge surprise, I think this is excellent news! And it opens up a whole raft of potential schemes. Well done, Arma, and thank you! Cheers, Mark 1
Phoenix44 Posted June 1 Author Posted June 1 Not my thing but I really like the idea of the 3D files for your own printing. Should be a good way of adding value but keeping costs down.
Tbolt Posted June 1 Posted June 1 Some pictures from the show from Planes & Panzers. https://www.facebook.com/RadeksModellinMadness/posts/pfbid031h7mHGM42RXXfVwk68tYCo7w5mXr1W1pfuk5EW6BtaT5BDB8A9mELjDXCnGSwkEfl 8 5
SprueMan Posted June 1 Posted June 1 Eduard go home! As expected from Arma hobby, it is great. The car-doors can be open or closed, the cockpit detail is better and the weights are included (small thing, but pleasing to see) The only concern I have is the gun cover on the engine. That will require a bit of attention. 2
2996 Victor Posted June 1 Posted June 1 Looks fantastic! The Gilbert Islands one is my fave of the three box schemes, but I'll need two at least - 601 Sqn, here I come 2
Wayne Bull Posted June 1 Posted June 1 Hopefully the gun cover issue is just a rush to put the kit together type thing . But it will be nice to have an option to the hasegawa kit and evil bay prices . Should do well for them and there are plenty of schemes to choose from . 2
