British Airborne - Red Devils - Dragon 1/16

Recommended Posts

Hi. :D

This will be my entry into this GB.
I've always longed for improving my skills with figures, so I'll entering this figure from Dragon.
A 1/16 kit of a figure from the Red Devils, hence called "Peter the Para" :giles:

I'll be mostly using these colours from AK Interactive.
Main colours will be airbrushed, but lots of painting will be done by brush.

This will only be my second figure model and I hope to improve some from my first try.

Hi. :D

Things has started to happen with my "Peter the Para.
Body parts on stich worthy of Vlad the Impaler.

And as Mary Shelley's Frankenstein the body is growing.
Legs, torso and some parts of the jacket did take some long sessions with sanding sticks and file to get rid of all rather large seams.
I've tried my best to blend the into something I can live with.

The right hand is split in two parts, and they don't have the best fit.

A small bit of Perfect Plastic Putty.

Let it set a bit, and then work the seam with a wet q-tip.

The magazine pouches don't have a backside, and since the back of them will be seen something has to be done about that.
A small strip of plasticard drenched in Tamiya Extra Thin to the rescue.
I'll add one more strip this evening, to get the back fully covered.

Nothing fits as it should, so my original thought to paint the equipment by it self then add them to the figure went out the window and the equipment must be fitted prior to painting.
A water bottle on the hip.
I'll also have to add some straps here and there for a correct fit.

I've mended is jump jacket a bit, and filed down the edges on the pocket under the jacket a bit so it looks more natural.

I've also added a pouch that will also hold some kind of tool.
I'll have to fix some straps for that tool from my thinnest plasticard strips I can find.

And I've glued his right arm in place.
And I've used some liquid sprue goo on the seam.
I think I'll be working with this seam later today to blend the arm against the torso in a natural setting.

And that is my progress so far.
But I've given my self two extra hours of bench time each evening this week so I've work up a good sleep deficit by Thursday evening.
On Friday around 22.00 the family and me will be setting of for a weeks vacation in Otterndorf in Germany by the German North Sea coast.
And to be able to drive all the 1130km during the night I want to sleep until at least 16.00 on Friday.
Last time, six years ago, I did this trip down to Germany in a bit under 15 hours.
But that time we had fair weather the whole way, this time rain is to be expected for most of the journey, so I'm aiming on 17 hours this time.
And my wife and kids don't drive yet, so I'll have to drive all the way by my self.
It's good that I actually enjoy driving.

To be continued.....

Hi. :D

I did manage to do some more work on Peter last night when the rain was pouring down outside my Livingroom window and the thunder was rolling around in the sky.
I didn't like how Dragon has tooled the left hand with a stump of the magazine to his sub machine gun in place in the hand.
So I decided to drill out out and open up the fist so I could fit the magazine in the hand and don't have to cut it up in parts.

And after some carving and grinding I could fit the magazine in the hand.

I've also glued the handle to the entrenching tool. (Thanks @John_W for that information.)

I'll have to adjust the fit of his left arm a bit so that the magazine actually can sit in the right position in the gun.
I've started to build up his left shoulder a bit so I don't have to use a lot of putty.

I've also added the neckerchief to the body.
I'll wait to add his head until I'm done with the left arm.
