Here are a couple of 3D renders of the final versions of the 1/144 HMS Ark Royal Waist & Forward Catapults with jet blast deflectors I've produced. Next phase is to complete test prints.

I'm also in the final stages of producing 1/144 F-4K Phantoms with normal and extended nose landing gears to go with the catapults.

Also working on the FGR.2 variant as well.

Oh neat!  There are a couple of 1/144 Buccaneer options out there too that I'd be keen to match this up with.  Any plans to do this in 1/72 or 1/48?

To be honest, limitations on build plate size restrict the deck assembly to 1/144 scale. It is feasible that the jet blast assemblies and associated side blast walls could be printed in 1/72 & 1/48, but the actual deck sections would be a problem.

I see - more modeler's dreams defeated by infeasibility and lack of initiative on the part of the modeler! 😅 Maybe there is a market for just the jet blast assemblies intended to enhance the coastal kits catapult launch section?

In any event, I am just as pleased with the work you are doing and feel a little sheepish for asking about something in a different scale!  Carry on and thanks for the reply and your efforts to produce something super cool! - Jack

I'm going to have a look at the possibly of producing the JBD's and side walls in 1/72 & 1/48 and also look at how they could be integrated into the Coastal Kits diorama bases.

A quick update on progress.

I'm having some issues with the base warping during the curing process, so looking at possible solutions.

I'm a fellow resin 3D print maker as well. I was planning to make the JBDs myself for a 1:48 scale model diorama but as you've already done a lovely job on those I'd like to add my name to people who'd be interested in buying a set off you.

Decking isn't an issue as  I was planning to scratch build my own with additional details (tie downs etc) 3D printed and incorporated. My planned diorama has an aircraft on the forward catapult and one on the forward lift of Ark Royal so I'm planning to 3D CAD design the lift and then 3D resin print that.

Let me know if you reach a stage ready to sell the JBDs etc.

After seeing that 1/144th.co.uk are releasing a similar model of the Ark Royal catapult to the one I have designed I have decided to put the project on hold.

I might go ahead and print & buid one of my own, if I can get the 3D printer to successfully print the base plate.

Sorry for not responding to your post, but printing the JBD's separately is something I hadn't thought of.

Leave it with me and I'll have a look at what I can produce.

Further to my recent post regarding the 1/144th kit I decided that as I'd put so much work into the model I would still go ahead and finish it off. Your enquiry led me to looking at different ways of breaking the model down into easier sections and I also had a look at producing the jet blast deflectors separately to the base.

The pictures below are screen shots of one of the  left hand, fwd catapult jet blast deflectors in 1/48 scale.

I am also able to produce these, as well as the side deflectors in 1/144, 1/72 & 1/48 scales and they are printed as a single piece.

Here's an update on the design of the standalone JBD's & side blast walls.

I've now produced a set in 1/72 scale designed so that the user can apply it into their own base.

Pictures show the first set of 1/72 printed parts.

I can also produce the parts in 1/48 scale.
