81-er Posted May 7, 2024 Posted May 7, 2024 No, not the Killing Joke song Nirvana stole the riff for Come as You Are from, but a GB celebrating all things from the decade of excess. Built in or used during is good, as long as it’s modelled as it appeared at some point between 1st January 1980 and 31st December 1989 it’s eligible. A few ideas: Aircraft: Shiny Top Gun F-14’s or ancient Eastern Bloc MiG’s, civilian airliners Ships: Falkland’s veterans to playboy millionaire yachts Cars: Ferrari Testarossa’s to Del Boy’s Reliant Sci-Fi: Your favourite ships from your favourite movies of the decade I’m sure you get the idea by now. So, who fancies it? 1. 81-er (host) 2. @Chrisj2003 3. @Mjwomack 4. @DaveJL 5. @franky boy 6. @modelling minion 7. @jackroadkill 8. @Marklo 9. @helios16v 10. @Adam Poultney 11. @MRMRL 12. @Alex.B 13. @Dermo245 14. @Bobby No Mac 15. @zebra 16. @Marlin 17. @Wings unlevel 18. @Keeff 19. @Corsairfoxfouruncle 20. @Captain Glumbo 21. @Col. 22. @Richard Humm 23. @Threadbear 24. @Bbdave 25. @Redstaff 26. @Terry1954 27. @reini 28. @RevDWC 29. @JeroenS 30. @Jabba 31. @Pedro52 32. @Geo1966 33. @TonyW 34. @Caerbannog 35. @Luke1199 36. @whiskey 4

Mjwomack Posted May 8, 2024 Posted May 8, 2024 I'm going to need a bigger voting sheet (Jaws 3 and Jaws: Revenge) were both in the 80s. How about a de lorean though? https://www.kingkit.co.uk/product/aoshima-film-tv-models-1-24-05916-back-to-the-future-de-lorean I saw a real one recently, it was so noisy you'd hear it coming from decades away 1 2
franky boy Posted May 8, 2024 Posted May 8, 2024 Excellent idea James. Please add me to the list and line up the pina collada’s! James 2 1
modelling minion Posted May 8, 2024 Posted May 8, 2024 A resounding yes from me! My formative years, great TV as well as films and great subject matter for us modellers as the world didn't just fly boring grey computers. My only problem will be narrowing down my choice of subject. Need a co-host that actually lived through the decade? 4

jackroadkill Posted May 9, 2024 Posted May 9, 2024 You're a bad man, James, a very bad man. This would be a terrible fir for me in every respect (I mean, if I drank a pina colada VERY BAD THINGS would happen!), so.... I'm in. 3 1

Alex.B Posted May 12, 2024 Posted May 12, 2024 I’m in, plenty of subject to choose in my stash! The firsts that come to mind are a FB-111A, a Tornado Gr.1 with the awesome gray-green wraparound or a Tornado IDS in High-Viz markings of the Italian Air Force. 3
