Hi,

Although there are many P-51D's that I'd like to build, I'm going to go with the new Eduard P-51B.

One reason is that I find it fascinating that the 8th AF succeeded in putting escort fighters over Berlin in daylight in March 1944. The Bullseye sheet has some of these. I'm going to go with B6-Y. 😉

Hi,

Nothing to show yet: I have been assembling a few pieces and studying the instructions.

I love the 3D-printed seats that came with the Royal Class kit, the PE seatbelts that are also included will go to a Tamiya P-51B.

I believe there is a mistake in the instructions. On page 8 of the Royal Class instructions (where you assemble the wings), they show the wrong location for the holes you need to drill out if you want to attach the underwing racks.

Also, they call for a 0,1 mm drill. That is too smal if you want the rack's pins to go through there. More like 1mm.

Cheers, Stefan.

Hi,

Good progress and I will have to be fast to finish in time.

I have circled in green the holes that I opened up for the underwing racks. The ones that the instructions seem to advise are circled in red.

Hi,

The fuselage has been closed up.

The seam looks really bad in the picture, a bit less so with the naked eye, but I clearly need more practice with Eduard p-51's.

The instrument panel was done with Eduard PE. The Royal Class also gives one set of "Eduard Space" decals.

I'll try these on the other P-51B from the box.

Hi Stefan

 Good job so far ..

With some putty I think that this seam will quickly disapear ...

Best regards
