mark.au Posted April 27 Posted April 27 (edited) I finished this several weeks passed but only got a chance to take the glamour shots a few days ago. The WIP is linked below. The short version is that this is a very nice kit that assembles very well. I added some aftermarket in the cockpit and scratched up some added detail on the engine but by far the most work was in the painting. In addition to the recall scheme itself, all the markings are painted except for the airframe stencils. The pics… Cheers. Edited May 4 by mark.au 44 3

SAT69 Posted April 27 Posted April 27 Your build warrants all the praise given here and much more. Many congratulations on a most excellent work. 1
woody37 Posted April 28 Posted April 28 That paint job looks like a right challenge, all those angles and straight lines coupled with rigging and two sets of wings gives me palpitations at the thought of getting it right! But you've nailed it, quite stunning 1
bigbadbadge Posted April 28 Posted April 28 Great job on the model and paint scheme Mark, looks spectacular. The kit looks lovely and I must admit being tempted to get one myself. Cracking work Chris 1
mark.au Posted April 29 Author Posted April 29 Many thanks for all of the comments, much appreciated. The paint job was a bit tricky, mostly in getting everything to line up across the multiple surfaces. I enjoyed the challenge though and happy with how it came out. 15 hours ago, bigbadbadge said: The kit looks lovely and I must admit being tempted to get one myself. Thanks Chris. Thoroughly recommend the kit, it's a real joy and the larger scale offers opportunity for enhancement that you'll do wonders with, I'm sure. Cheers. 1
kapam Posted April 30 Posted April 30 That’s brilliant! I’m not really sure what a “recall scheme” is, but it certainly is eye catching! Executed superbly! 👏👏👏👏 1

The Stearmans used in the training schools during the war didn’t have radios so when bad weather was closing in they would send up a distinctly painted airplane to recall the student pilots. Cheers
AliGauld Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Sorry Mark, missed this one popping up. That's a work of art. It looks absolutely spectacular. I'm a bit lost for words. Cheers, Alistair 1
