Hello everyone … As this theater gets little attention compared to NWE or the Southwest Pacific. I think we could wrangle enough interest in a group build. Dates would start on 7th July 1937 and go to September 2nd 1945. Explanation for change of dates below.  It could be anything that was operating in or on the sub-continent of India, Indochina, or China. The Naval area of operations would be anything from the eastern edge of 1937 India (Pakistan). Through to the Western edges of Philippines and Borneo. North to the Sea of Japan and I will say the western coast of Australia is the south eastern border of the Indian ocean. Madagascar would be the western edge, and Antarctica will be the extreme south edge.

I’ve decided after some thought to expand the dates of the build to include the Sino-Japanese war starting in 1937. I consider this part of the war and is definitely part of the Chinese theater. If anyone has any thoughts on this I will consider listening to arguments on this.

I might have "one or two" kits that could fit the bill for this Dennis. I assume that all forces involved in the theatre are eligible?

Yes as long as they served in the region and timeframe. Out of curiosity what were you thinking ?

I will most like go down the RAF SEAC route, currently thinking Hurricane, but wondered if the Vichy French from Madagascar were included as it makes the edge of the parameters of the GB or the British aircraft involved in taking the island.

I would consider either side acceptable, Madagascar is in the region. If memory serves the British took the island to prevent the German and Japanese navies from using it. Mostly as a submarine base amongst other reasons.

Would it be possible to extend the timeframe for subjects a bit? A decent number of options open up if you allow stuff from when the French were attacking French Indochina/Vietnam. Bearcats, Helldiver's, Hellcats, etc.

Even if not, I've been meaning to do a British P-47 or Spit VIII/XIV from the theatre. An AVG P-40 is always a great choice too, I'd love to take part.

Sadly I will have to say no to extending the years. However there are two options open to you. The 1st is an Asian themed group build which may cover your French Indochina subject's.

The 2nd would be the current Baby-boomers group build. That covers the time frame you are seeking ?

As for the second half of your question, all of those would be a welcome choice.

Fair enough, no worries. I have a Hasegawa VIII in the stash and I'm sure I can find a Thunderbolt that will fit the bill.

Hi Dennis,

Please count me in for this GB - lots of great subjects so I might have to go shopping (Oh dear! How sad! Never mind!).

Cheers,

Mark

Welcome to the build Richard, Mark. Pretty big variety to choose from so I think everyone’s tastes can be catered too.
