A start was made on the engines last Wednesday.

Parts cut prior to clean up.

CnmjyLQ.jpg

They were built and primed on one of the nights after I got home on the early shift.

Today I got on with the paint and glue.

Not before time.

I didn't bother dealing with the seams on the engine halves as they won't be seen but used them as practice for the metal paint effects.

So, here they are after a base coat of steel followed by some pale burnt metal, burnt metal, jet exhaust, some engine blueing and some Nuln Oil on the compressor blades and such.

Fairly pleased with the result and they did fit perfectly into their assigned positions much to my surprise.

Now I need to bend, paint and fit the rudder pedals, then dirty things up a little and after that get on with the fuselage halves, doors and stuff.

Thanks for looking,

Cheers,

Alistair

Before I started work on bits of this today I thought that a dry fit might be a good idea to see where I stand.

That all looks to be pretty good at the moment it may change when glue is involved.

A bit more PE added to the side doors.

Rudder pedals built up.

Then when I took things apart to start on the fuselage internals I realised there was a little work to be done before I go much further.

Thanks for looking,

Feel like I’m arriving late to the show, but mind if I pull up a chair too?
I’ve got a couple of these in the stash, so will be following this with interest.

Nice work- your progress is a lot more rapid than mine!

Dry fitting is looking good Alistair,  but wait, not more ejector pin marks, deja vu 🙄this will soon be buttoned up.

Cracking work

Chris

Thanks Chris,

It's going well enough and to be honest as this will all be buttoned up I don't think you'd see the ejector pins marks but I'm not taking the chance.

More PE glued on along with the doors and the last sort of internal bit built.

The cockpit and cabin got dirtied up a bit with a smoke oil wash.

And before I head out for work a final dry fit before there's more paint involved.

Based on this dry fit I'm going to need to be really careful with the placement when glues is involved to get this sort of fit.

Thanks for looking,

Thanks very much Roger,

I was using them as an experiment in paint and I think they look all right.

looking good, looking good

Many Thanks,

Most kind.

Bits and pieces have been attended to over the course of the day.

Firstly some paint, decals, windows and a bit of dirtiness to the fuselage half interiors.

lgdtF5Q.jpg

Then a start with the glue and a last pic of the interior as it will never be seen again.

JoE5t87.jpg

I then started to button everything up in stages until I got this result.

That's where it stands tonight. I'll have a good look in the morning and see where I can go.

Thanks for looking,
