Hold my place here will you mate while I join the queue at the bar, ah cheers.

Can I get you one while I'm there?

I am going to be using Tony's wonderful Canberra resin bits to turn my ugly duck Airfix Canberra with the huge 'ooter into a PR-7 with his new resin nose that has the necessary camera ports in it and has that superb tapered curve built in

Tony makes a set of intake nose cones for the three cartridge starter the later engines need and no sooner did I see them than I ordered two more sets for my other Canberras, Frog BI(8) and Matchbox PR9.

From a personal POV my actual favourite of these is the elegant Frog moulding but considering I already know about the huge number of problems with the Matchbox model I may as well build all three, hoping to do the Canberra proud.

(some of the problems lie around the chord of the tailplane, I mean look at this comparison shot, Frog and Matchbox tailplanes)

The scribed line shows the actual chord for the tailplanes.

Ok then if you will hold my place I'll be back when I can with our order

Aha, third in, so a decent seat. This one will be good!

If Alan is on Traquair Ale, I'd better have a Newcastle Brown!

Saw your email Bill, all good. It's always there if you want it as it is part of my "must go, but only to a deserving home, so in no hurry" part of the stash!

Mine's a Gouden Carolus Hopsinjoor.

No queueing at the back, you lot!

Cheers,

And that's the last of the Traquair til next week too.

Can I squeeze in at the back and watch Bill work his magic on the Canberra's please?

I've brought some of our local brewed Piddle Ale with me so help yourselves if you fancy one

     Stay safe           Roger

Hi Rog, where were you mate?

Anyway not a lot to see yet, I'm just sorting out things I will be needing on the triple build journey

First must be to work on the moving (incidence adjustment) tailplane department as detailed by James @71chally

A quick scan round the aisles of the archives found me @Massimo on his PR9 loveliness which also gave me access to this link for James's workings

Whilst I wait for the reinforcement 3D parts from Tony I can get started on triple tail corrections for all three

Yes Alan I am still rotating down with the Lynxes in my own self imagined jungle but as you know preliminary work is always worthwhile.

A few small potterings found me trying James's tailplane methods.

Hmm could be, must seek further info by sticking fuselage pieces together

But this is happening this week

So models must take a step back...

I'm late but hey not too late! If Alan's having an ale, then I m in with a tot (large) of Pusser's rum and a black pudding sandwich!

Some sweet looking resin parts there Bill, this is going to be interesting.

I had a bottle of wine last night but I think my keyboard got home very late, it don't want to smell!

Almost forgot, look at hose polished ports...

I'm anticipating more good results from this head Colin, it was on the engine I cooked but has been completely renovated and has been unaltered for compression ratio as I'm happy with the performance.

Should be good.

Ooh, still space at the bar. Perfect!

Pint of Spitfire and some peanuts then......

Bill,

your extra parts will be printed and sent this week.  Just be aware that, whilst I’ve both the FROG and Airfix kits, I don’t have a Matchbox kit so I’ve no idea how well the parts will match (no pun intended) so gingers crossed you can do something with the resin bits.   I shall watch your construction of the tailplane conversion, for my own build and may have a go at producing a resin conversion part.

PS, I can do a B2/B6 or PR3/PR7 forward fuselage for the FROG kit which includes a vac-form canopy.  Just don’t tell anyone.

OK Tony our secret, wouldn't mind one if there's one lying around in a corner making the place look untidy.

You need to PM me about dosh mate, please.

I will be doing some of the essential tailplane bits this week myself even though I haven't finished my Lynxes, time to get on.

Bounty from the Big Yeller H today included a Reskit set of Canberra wheel wells for use under (or in) the Airfix kit

The Reskit has side walls to use on the Airfix nose wheel well, however TeeELL sent me a nose wheel well for my PR7 conversion which might work in the Frog nose nicely, what do you think (here poised by a dollop of plasticenealike)

The flappyflangey thing behind is what Frog generously let you have to pose the nose wheel with, yep that is why I seek alternatives.

For me the TeeELL 3D print wins hands down.

The Reskit wells are supposed to detail the Airfix wings but as far as eye can see they will work nicely under the Froglet too

A test try

Dilemma time

Is it better to pay a small (to middling) fortune for three more of these or suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous Evergreening as our own Sainted Martian would dive happily into to detail three other wheel wells...

Decisions huh?

Reskit is a good choice.  It's the one I made, and I'm happy with it.  I'm also happy with @TeeELL's Canberra forward fuselage for the FROG kit.

Just to let you know, your parts are in the hands of the Royal Mail, I have included 3 nose bays as requested.

oh, the FROG conversions are definitely ‘to order’ I don’t want them getting mixed up with the parts for Airfix.

Actually, I could probably design some basic main gear bays and print them off!  I’ll have a look at what is possible - importantly they can be printed either very thin or even as ‘skeletons’ that simply stick onto the inner surface of the wing!  Just a thought.

On the basis of the most economic decision I intend attacking the bays with evergreen, this was intended as a set of low cost builds and I'm already on the cusp of overspend.

I do think a liner type thing would be a good idea

Trouble is, I take the U/C bays as ‘underneath’ and as I don’t display my models upside down, they don’t get filed as important.

That's another impressive looking collection of 3d bits you have there Bill.

Lovely work @TeeELL
