Romeo Alpha Yankee
This is my initial entry to the GB. It is well on its way and has been languishing on the Shelf of Doom for some time. I started it almost 2 years ago and was last touched in September 2022. My aim is to finish it this time around, I have until 17 Jun to complete it as I will be away in Europe when the GB finishes. It will be finished as 140111 as it appeared at a Fincastle competition in 2001. I started with this. Made a started the CP-140 mods to the kit and did the cockpit I have completed most of the assembly and am using an Eduard etch set for the wheel wells and exterior It now is at this stage, now to find the rest of the etch set and parts to finish it off!
bianfuxia
Am i right that this would be P-3 #5 for you when it's done?

Actually number 9 of the current lot in 1/72 . Number 8 was a refurb of a kit for 10SQN and I am also working on number 10 for a friend at the local museum I volunteer at. (I have also built 2 1/144 P-3s).
Marlin
Looks great Ray @Romeo Alpha Yankee But I guess you know you way around the Orion if you've built that many of them. /Bosse

I spent part of today adding etch to the main gear legs, it stuck more to my fingers than to the plastic! 1
Lex77
Nice choice! Have one in the stash but no place to put it when it is finished.
Romeo Alpha Yankee
Some progress, I added some PE to the gear legs and ladder And found some props from the spares box to prep
Romeo Alpha Yankee
I added the antennas today and started on the paint While I was at it I decided to work on some other P-3s as well. The one on the box was a new build started earlier in the week but will be an RAAF aircraft so not eligible for its own thread in this GB. The other 2 are well on the way to completion and just need final tweaks before paint starts on them.
Dermo245
Great production line there Ray. 👏 You're giving me the inspiration to (someday) take that kit from the attic and build it as a Dutch version 😎. Cheers, Dermot
Romeo Alpha Yankee
I got the underside colour done. Some creative masking coming up to finish off the paint
Romeo Alpha Yankee
I was not happy with the lower grey. I used the recommended Hasegawa H308 which looked too dark. So I resprayed it with an SMS equivalent which has lightened it up. On with finishing up the masking and painting now.

Evalman
Superb work on one of my favourites. Just looking through some of my photos and noticed that you may need to alter your crew ladder a bit.

TheyJammedKenny!
Do I take it that the aircraft shown in the lower right corner is a P-7? Where did you ever find the parts for it???? Great job, and I love your factory "ramp."

I used two kits as a basis and then modified the rear exhaust of each nacelle and added the large fairing at the wing root. The vertical stab was cut down and larger rudder added and the horizontal stabs were extended and squared off. The engines are upside down AE2000s (from a C-130J) and the props are C-130J props modified to 5 blades. The P-7 was supposed to have a straight blade but I used the scimitar blades for the C-130J instead.

They accused the USAF of mounting the Allisons upside-down on the C-130. LOL. Great conversion. 1

Romeo Alpha Yankee
I ended up removing the wonky decals and replacing them with slightly smaller versions. I am calling this one done. More images in the Inspiration Gallery.
