Reini78 Posted March 19, 2024 Posted March 19, 2024 #5/2024 So, here´s my dad´s finished third and last I-16, for now. Ark Models kit mostly oob. The kit is modular for different versions. For the Type 10 you have to sand off the cockpit door and an access panel on the right side. The kit comes with cut out yourself vinyl masks. Would have preferred pre-cut kabuchi ones, but in the end the vinyl masks turned out ok. Used 0,4mm plastic rods for the landing gear retraction cables. Painted with Mr Paint White Aluminium and AK RC Signal Red. Build thread here https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235135082-red-batplane148-polikarpov-i-16-type-10-vvs/ Valery Pavlovich Chkalov was born in 1904 in Russia. In 1924 he joined a fighter unit and in 1935 he became the leader of the stunt/display team of the Airforce. He was also a test pilot and was awarded the title Hero of the Sovietunion in 1936. He participated in several long distance flights, among them a 63 hrs non stop flight from Moscow to the US pacific coast via the North Pole. He died on Dec. 15th 1938 in an landing accident with the Polikarpov I-180 prototype. 2996 Victor Posted March 19, 2024 Posted March 19, 2024 Impressive work, as always, on this distinctive little plane and a great result! Cheers, Mark 1
georgeusa Posted March 19, 2024 Posted March 19, 2024 Beautiful work on the third installment of your I-16 series. And this one has such a distinctive color scheme. Just, as usual, a well built and perfectly finished model with pictures that present it in the best light. Thanks for sharing them all. 1

Rando Posted March 20, 2024 Posted March 20, 2024 Beautiful! I-16 was an interesting and unique plane, heard it was a challenge to fly but was a good plane in the right hands in the early war. 1

Pete in a shed Posted March 22, 2024 Posted March 22, 2024 For a not so, (I'll use the word pretty), aeroplane. This colour scheme has made it look absolutely beautiful! Fabulous job Pete 1
