Popular Post Andrés S. Posted March 17, 2024 Popular Post Posted March 17, 2024 Hi all. This is the first model with desert decoration that he has made in many years and the second in total. I hope that the mistakes I have made in this one will not be made again in an Arma Hobby 1/72 Hurricane MK IIC that I have in stock. I would have liked to have placed the ventral fuel tank but I realized that I had not placed it once I had glued the model to the base. Now I think it could cause damage that is difficult to repair and if it were, I honestly don't feel like undertaking it. I really enjoyed this kit from Special Hobby and I can't recommend it enough. Thanks to everyone who has followed the build and encouraged me with their kind comments. This can be seen in the following link. Andrés. 88 5
Toryu Posted March 17, 2024 Posted March 17, 2024 This is a beauty! One of the most attractive P-40 schemes masterfully executed. And nice photos with a nice base. 1

kelly9mm Posted March 17, 2024 Posted March 17, 2024 Very aggressive stance :-). I like it a lot. Great paintwork and an extra plus for careful riveting (1:72 scale!). Panel lines are slightly overly pronounced for my taste, for desert camouflage I'd choose a brown or even a grey wash. But it's a matter of personal preference and de gustibus non disputandum est. Great work! Cheers, Marcin 2
Mig88 Posted March 17, 2024 Posted March 17, 2024 I very much agree with all. Lovely work but, for me too, the panel lines are overdone. I prefer a more subtle approach since they weren't that visible. Superbly finished otherwise. Miguel 1
HPoirot Posted March 17, 2024 Posted March 17, 2024 It is difficult to believe that this is 1/72 scale. Very nice build indeed! 👍 1
woody37 Posted March 17, 2024 Posted March 17, 2024 Stunning build, whilst I agree about some of the comments on panel lines, the artistic result is a delight. Hard to believe this is 1/72! 1

Hard to believe this is 1/72! Not all models have the fine panel lines that Hasegawa does and in addition to that they are more noticeable being a 1/72 scale. Regarding the dark color of the panel lines, I have seen many airplanes personally and what is created is a shadow in the gap of the joint between the panels and I never saw a color difference in it regardless of the color in which the aeroplane was painted. My opinion is that the existence of multiple Panel Liners for different colors on the market is a simple offer of products with the sole purpose of inflating sales, nothing more. But as comrade kelly9mm says "gustibus non disputandum est". Thank you very much for your kind words. Andrés. 1

georgeusa Posted March 18, 2024 Posted March 18, 2024 A very well worn P-40 in British desert livery; what's not to like? Just a great job on the paint and weathering. Thanks for sharing. 1
Pete in a shed Posted March 18, 2024 Posted March 18, 2024 Excellent. The finish is just superb for such a small subject, the riviting, the weathering, everthing is just right in my opinion and the clarity of the canopy is amazing. Pete 1

kapam Posted April 20, 2024 Posted April 20, 2024 That is such impressive work! A real masterpiece! Among the best P-40’s I have ever seen - especially in this scale! 👏👏👏👏 1

stevehnz Posted April 20, 2024 Posted April 20, 2024 Very smart Andrés, sorry I missed it the first time around & pleased to see it now. It is a hard worked desert bird very well modelled. What were your top side colours, I saw Vallejo MA Azure for the underside which looks good but then got lost in your effects? Steve. 1
DiveBomber Posted April 21, 2024 Posted April 21, 2024 I have myself just built a P-40 in plain olive drab, and I was quite happy with it, but now I like yours much more than mine ! As a newbie I am allowed a stupid question ? Some modellers paint the exhaust fume traces in black, others in white : is there no consensus ? 1
