Adam Poultney Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 I'm in if it doesn't clash with busy uni times. No idea what I'll build since Vulcans and gliders are ineligible... 2

I'm sure that you will find something suitable Adam as there's a huge amount to choose from, you can always pick something up from the Hinckley show next moth if you're not too busy at uni.

Weeeeeelllllll, there was a Bell X-3 and T-38 caught me by surprise while looking at some F-5E/F/N kits, an F-14 (or, ahem, three), several F-15, at least five English Electric Lightning, a Sea Vixen, A-10 (but I'm trying to get an STGB sorted for them next year), F-117, Eurofighter Typhoon, Rafale, MiG-25 and -29, Tornado, Mil-24, Westland Puma and Lynx, Sea King (if helicopters are eligible), Su-15 and -27, SEPECAT Jaguar, many Buccaneer... the list continues but sure it's the same for all of us. 2

Certainly true in my case, far too many to risk listing! 9 minutes ago, Col. said: if helicopters are eligible Thats a good question, my initial feeling is yes as it is the amount of engines that the criteria is based on and a great many are powered by two engines, and the Sea King and Wessex are favourites of mine as I worked on their Gnomes for years, and Swedish HKP-4's. James @81-er is the main host though so I am sure he will weigh in and let us know his thoughts. Technically they have two sets of "propellers" too with the main and tail rotors. 1

That's next month?! What dates. I have a few gliding trips coming up, I hope I don't miss it 1

81-er Posted March 13, 2024 Author Posted March 13, 2024 Welcome aboard, Adam As for choppers, when I clarified the eligibility over mixed-power craft, I added a note saying that helicopters with two main rotors are ok. I also covered contra-rotating props, as I could see that one coming at some point too James 2
Wings unlevel Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 I feel seen - a GB that covers 3/4s of my stash - where do I sign! 🤣 3

shortCummins Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 I'm really enjoying the WWII twins GB and as I've at least a couple of kits that qualify? Beaufighter MkVI & RedRoo target tug conversion Phantom FGR.2 PBY-5A Catalina DH-89 Dragon Rapide (if non-military would be allowed) count me in 2

Can't answer about the civvy stuff but I'm sure James will be able to answer. 1
81-er Posted March 14, 2024 Author Posted March 14, 2024 Welcome Gerard and John You raise a good question about civilian stuff, John. I guess there’s no reason not to include it, so I’ll update the first post to make it clear it’s not exclusively military James 3 1
Rob G Posted March 15, 2024 Posted March 15, 2024 Question re helicopters - some have 2 jet engines, but 1 main rotor ie Twin Hueys, AH-1Z, Bell 212/412 etc, while some have 2 jet (or piston) engines but 2 contra-rotating main rotors ie many of the Kamovs. And some have 1 jet engine but 2 seperate rotors, the Kaman K-Max being the best example. While the K-Max is an obvious candidate, can any of the others be squished into this GB? Smellychopters, eh. Gotta love 'em.

Hi Rob, any chopper will need to have two visible main rotors to quality, so I'm afraid anything with two engines driving one rotor are out. As I've counted contra-rotating props as one unit, it's only fair that I do the same for contr-rotating rotors. But the K-Max is ok, as are aircraft like the Chinook and Sea Knight James
TheyJammedKenny! Posted March 15, 2024 Posted March 15, 2024 Two easy! I'm in with several potential projects. Thanks! 2

modelling minion Posted March 15, 2024 Posted March 15, 2024 Unless I'm very much mistaken we have just reached the half way mark, excellent going. 1
Jabba Posted March 15, 2024 Posted March 15, 2024 I have a fair few in the stash that meet the requirements for this GB, so please add my name to the list. 2
81-er Posted March 15, 2024 Author Posted March 15, 2024 Welcome guys And yes, Craig, as Bon Jovi said "Whoa, we're half way there" James 1
Rafwaffe Posted March 16, 2024 Posted March 16, 2024 I’m in. I have a hornet (de havilland not McDonnell Douglas) that’s perfect to go with this build. Would be an ideal follow on to my ww2 mosquito (once work, kids and the wife give me time to get to it in the ww2 twins GB)… 2
theplasticsurgeon Posted March 16, 2024 Posted March 16, 2024 A few that I've not vouched elsewhere - count me in. . . Two Revell Tornados, and I've got Desert Storm decals. 2
81-er Posted March 16, 2024 Author Posted March 16, 2024 Welcome, Tim, some excellent options there James 1
