Skodadriver Posted March 8, 2024 Posted March 8, 2024 According to Jadlam's website Revell are going to issue an A321 in Condor livery. The aircraft in the picture seems to be D-ATCG which is a CEO. Maybe I haven't looked in the right place but I can't find any reference to this on the Revell website. Does anyone know anything about this kit? Is it going to be a re-issue of the ancient Revell A321 or a re-box of the Zvezda plastic? The latter seems unlikely given that the Iron Maiden 757 never happened. Dave G
Turbofan Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 Hi Dave, On the IPMS Deutschland website it says this is going to be an A321Neo https://ipmsdeutschland.de/wordpress/2024/01/01/revell-neuheiten-2024-model-kits-2/ Also mentioned is a re-release of their RJ85 Hope this helps. Cheers, Ian 1
Alex1978 Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 Hi Dave, Its a re-release of the A321NEO with both engine options available. Alex 1
richellis Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 I think Revell are unlikely to use and more Zvezda parts following the invasion of Ukraine, they publicly cut ties with Russian partners 2
Skodadriver Posted March 9, 2024 Author Posted March 9, 2024 Thanks @Turbofan and @Alex1978. I was confused by Jadlam's claim that it will be an A321-200 and the picture of D-ATCG. The A321NEO makes perfect sense. I should have thought to check IPMS Deutschland. It will be interesting to see exactly what Abziehbilder für eine Authentische Condor Version means in practice. Will we get decal stripes or will we have to mask and paint the hard way? It will be good to have the RJ-85 back although I've still got a few in the stash. I feel a British Airways -100 conversion coming on! Dave G 1
JK_Models Posted March 19, 2024 Posted March 19, 2024 It is very suprising as Revell typically not only aims for the experienced modeler but more or less a bit for everyone. That’s their market in Germany. For that the new Condor livery is definitely too complicated, no matter how. Decals won’t really work on the complex shape, especially the nose. And yeah painting needs definitely more than a bit of experience. So a surprising choice indeed. But might be useful to have good decals for a Condor 321, as I said n another thread the Nazca ones are not great (as usual).
Timo Posted March 19, 2024 Posted March 19, 2024 About the stripes, perhaps Revell might provide a painting template to show how to cut and place masking tape for the stripes. They did this for their Cargolux B747-8F 'not without my mask' kit - in this case their template showed where to place masking tape in order to paint the blue face mask. Just a thought 2
Skodadriver Posted September 30, 2024 Author Posted September 30, 2024 I haven't seen any more comments about this (I may have missed them) so my curiosity got the better of me and I bought the kit. It is the A321 NEO fuselage, wings etc but there is a new sprue with CFM-56 engines. There is no V2500 option and the kit doesn't include either of the NEO engines (i.e. LEAP or PW1100). You can only build a winglet fitted, CFM-engined A321-200 from it so Jadlam were right all along. You cannot build it as a NEO unless you source engines elsewhere. The only stripes on the decal sheet are for the winglets. There is a painting guide of sorts but you're pretty much on your own when it comes to painting the fuselage. Dave G 2 2
