Special Hobby 1/72 Westland Whirlwind Mk.I - UPGRADED

Recommended Posts

Looking back on my comments, the canopy must have been a reasonable fit, otherwise I would have mentioned it. It is a one piece effort and so all the nice cockpit detail is largely wasted, unless you are prepared to do some delicate cutting work or go down the vacform route. Like a lot of more modern kits (I'm looking at you Airfix, amongst others) the wing trailing edges are on the thick side and needed some time and work to thin down. The undercarriage was not straightfoward. I sometimes think that SH/MPM never made life easy with some of their engineering decisions. The Hudson seems a particular example.

SH72201 Westland Whirlwind FB Mk.I 1/72 will be back in our offer in May. But it will be an upgraded return. The decals are newly drawn, some of the PUR parts have been modified and some of the bombs and their hangers have been re-engineered and 3D printed. At Mosonshow 2024, this model will have a preview.

So they simply got the airfield and year wrong on the description.

Is that what your saying?

It should have read something like P6974 No 263 Squadron Operation Starkey, Manston Airfield Sept 1943
