F218, F391 Curtiss P-40E Kittyhawk 1A

Recommended Posts

Remember this, a box of scrap kits;

P-40%20Tomahawk,%2001-M.jpg

I have sorted out one and half kits

Frog%20P-40%20E%20Kittyhawk,%2001-M.jpg

Some of the parts are in the other P-40 box and will be drawn as needed

Pilot will be a volunteer

I can ether use these transfers

P-40%20Tomahawk,%2003-M.jpg

or an original Frog set that I found in my files

I'll do this one first whilst I sort out a canopy for the Tomahawk

You’re doing a great job picking the gaps of Frog models not as yet chosen to be built here. I’ve had this P-40 kit, suspect it’s a little on par with the old Airfix number.

Cheers and all the best.. Dave

Great stuff Fred

I believe I also have a one of these moulded in British Standard Beige like the one residing in your P-40 treasure chest.

Good luck in your quest for the canopy.

Cheers Pat

Work has started

First thing was to drill out the wings for the wheel wells

Top, as Frog supplied, bottom, drilled out

Construction of a cockpit is started

I've done a lot of work on this trying to bring it up to decent kit

Rear wheel well and doors, cut away the rear of the chin radiator for gills to be added. The particular one I'm building had a fin fillet

I'll cannibalise u/c doors from the Tomahawk kit. It comes with open doors and closed

and a cockpit interior made

Almost ready for painting

Although I'm not doing a Flying Tiger I've started watching John Wayne's 1942 film 'Flying Tigers'

Real P-40Bs, not CGI. And real war film mixed in

Modelling is suspended indefinitely

I was in hospital form March 19th to April 4th and it was found that I have a problem with my eyes

Everything is blurry and my depth perception is gone

I have to have some ops on my peepers, starting next week with laser treatment

I wouldn't normally share all this but I felt an explanation was due

I was rather looking forward to finishing this and adding more Frog kits into the mix
