Dennis_C Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 I guess T.22 differed from T.21 only in terms of cabin layout. Would it be a reason for Valom to provide an interior set?

Interesting, but Max7225 already has decals for the IAC version. In the instructions and on this thread, it's noted that the Valom wing is incorrect and should be replaced with the Special Hobby Anson wing or Airfix. An updated wing from Valom? Doubtful. maxdecal Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 The Irish Air Corps operated three Avro XIX which had a wider chord outer wing similar to that found on wartime Avro Ansons and not the tapered metal wing as provided in the current Valom kit. Hopefully the announced future kit with Irish Air Corps markings will have an updated sprue featuring the correct wing for the Avro XIX. 3
TEXANTOMCAT Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 I think this has been a proper success for Valom which is great news- also Peewit have released a masking set, now waiting for Eduard for a Zoom set and I’m sorted 2

It's a worthwhile subject that many of us have been pining for, and the results I've seen are nice. We also need a set of Cheetah engines. As for the Irish Air Corps example, it would be interesting to see if Valom put forth the effort to change the wings just for this kit. That would offer other possibilities, such as the Mk.12, assuming they made a new fuselage to match. 2

maxdecal Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 Looks like they haven't back dated the wing for the IAC version to make an Avro XIX.

Time to go order a set. Steve 1
TheKinksFan Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 On 22/10/2024 at 22:59, TEXANTOMCAT said: now waiting for Eduard for a Zoom set Nowadays Eduard release very few PE sets in 1/72, usually only a couple of sets per month. And they are almost always for kits from manufacturers like Tamiya, Fine Molds, Airfix, and for their own kits. Never for a short run kit manufacturer anymore. So there's 99.99% certainty that no aftermarket set from Eduard for Valom kits. Some other small company like Marabu design could release something.
TEXANTOMCAT Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 Dammit. Better just order the masks then! 1
TheyJammedKenny! Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 Well, it looks like they did not create a special wing for the Irish aircraft. That's ok--there's another possibility for the future: a glazed nose T.20, also used in South Rhodesia. You can easily do the conversion with a clear blister from another kit, depending on shape.
CH-53D Posted November 1, 2024 Posted November 1, 2024 It will be disappointing if it's just IAC decals and no wing change. I have enough Max Decals to do 141 three times already! That said, I have seen in the past where some of the smaller manufacturers use the previous version's artwork and just change the markings, while the plastic for the new kit does change. I'll keep my fingers crossed in hope until we see the actual kit.
