Hi All,

Just finished my second attempt at a `Grey Nurse` Squadron Spitfire, so thought you wouldn`t mind me sharing some pic`s

vbSNwyK.jpg

Built from Eduards 1/48 Spitfire Mk VIII, `Weekend edition` kit

0JVQiZu.jpg

Finished to represent an aircraft of 457 Squadron, RAAF towards the end of the war

jJHPs9Q.jpg

Built as usual 99% from the box, with just a few tweaks

fF19iBt.jpg

Including a slipper fuel tank, from the spares box ( probably from Special Hobby kit )

SztHhPE.jpg

Scoured the internet for a photo of the actual aircraft and although a good selection of 457 Sq photo`s....

eINUNlo.jpg

...only found one of the real deal and this of it during it`s time with the 1st TAF where they performed support and ground attack duties'

IL1gkYq.jpg

Then it had the Sky band painted out and the serial in black and very worn, so that was the look I went for.

Hope you enjoy, thanks for looking

Hi Russ,

Another very, very beautiful model. The weathering is perfect for my taste.  I was a little skeptical with the worn spinner cone right at the tip. But I found a photo where it is exactly the same.   Too bad, nothing to complain about 😂😂😂😂
A real masterpiece from the master of model art and photography.

🍻🍻🍻🍻

Cheers

Great looking Spitfire in the very attractive "Nurse Shark" livery.  (Never did understand why there are two eyes?)  Excellent painting and weathering skills are presented here.  Thanks for sharing.

Thanks George, I think it`s because at first they had a different smaller shark mouth and style. Later when the larger shark mouth was painted on with the eyes further forward they either left the original eyes or perhaps they were painted over roughly and the paint wore away, not all of them I found, had the rear set of eyes.

Don't mind at all, @russ c. This is gorgeous! Good weathering, and interesting to see where Foliage Green was used to overpaint roundels and the Sky band.

Another beauty Russ. The teeth and double eyes make it look a formidable prospect to come up against in a dogfight.

Excellent work Russ, I'm about to start one in 1/72 scale. Shark mouths make an already nice looking aircraft look even better.
