nimrod54
Well here we are again, another year and more models finished - not as many as I would have liked but here are those that made it across the line. I hope you enjoy the results. These two builds were a couple of hangovers from the Prototypes, Racers, Research, Record Breakers, Special Schemes mega GB which ran across 2022 - 23 ending in January. The first to be completed was this 1886 Benz Patent Motorwagen. And I still haven't managed to get Bertha seated correctly. by John L, on Flickr by John L, on Flickr Then creeping over the line on deadline day was this Airbus 319 finished in a BEA Red Square scheme to celebrate British Airways 100th Anniversary in the Special Schemes category. by John L, on Flickr by John L, on Flickr The next couple of builds were for the Big in Japan GB. I used a two classic Hales boxings of Hasegawa kits for the Panther and Cougar. The Panther was outside the 25% rule to be entered in the group build, but I finished it in the background - hence no link to the build. by John L, on Flickr by John L, on Flickr by John L, on Flickr Another pair of builds for the Crusaders and Corsairs STGB were the next completions for 2023. The Corsair was finished in a Portugese Air Force special scheme celebrating 64,000 hours in service of the type. by John L, on Flickr by John L, on Flickr The Crusader was a straight build out of the box. by John L, on Flickr by John L, on Flickr For the Not my Comfort Zone GB I had a go at figure painting, I had painted figures in the past but have never been satisfied with the overall results, This Masterbox US Civil War set of a Yankee Scout and Tracker was my subject choice for the Group Build. There is still some way to go before I am satisfied with my figure painting, but it was good to be able to try and push some techniques a bit more. by John L, on Flickr by John L, on Flickr by John L, on Flickr A couple of other builds completed in 2023 had been started for previous group builds but remained unfinished. One build in particular had been on and off the bench many times since I returned to modelling and early on in the year I dragged it out again determined to complete it no matter what this time. This 1/48 Hobbycraft Sea Fury was detailed with a Flightpath set and I finally finished it in April completing it as a RAN example. by John L, on Flickr by John L, on Flickr by John L, on Flickr And finally I started this Airfix 1/72 scale Spitfire F.Mk.22 for a Blitzbuild in 2022 thinking that it would be a quick and easy build to do. In the end I only wrapped things up in July 2023 by John L, on Flickr by John L, on Flickr Due to health issues I haven't done much modelling since October, but I am trying to get back into building again because I have several models that I started in 2023 that I want to complete. They could well be making an appearance in 2024's Yearbook. Regards John
