There is some work on if you want to correct the kit's few flaws, but the final result is worth the effort. This time I'll do an Armée de l'Air one 😉 Can I ask what colour that blue / grey is please Cheers Pat 1

I will tell you which one exactly when I'm back home Friday 😉 Cheers, François 1 hour ago, 2996 Victor said: This is an absolute beauty! I do like these Aeronavale schemes. The colour used here is the Humbrol 144 + a bit of white to make it lighter. Today I would probably use the French "gris-bleu foncé" from Lifecolor, perfect shade and easy to apply (preferably with a flat brush). Cheers, François 2 1

vppelt68 Posted July 1, 2024 Posted July 1, 2024 Today I went to a hobby shop here in Vienna, Austria (where there are no kangaroos ) and... found at least 50 vintage Heller 1:72 kits, 1:35 figures, at least one Admiral Scheer etc. Fabulous! Lots of Frog and old Airfix too. If my luggage would only have allowed me to buy all that I wanted, I would've bought a lot. Fortunately I already have one kit for this GB! V-P 3

vppelt68 Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 Today, before heading to the airport for the flight back home, I got back to the fabulous Viennese model kit treasure trove. I had my mind set in what to get as it had been nagging me for more than a week that I hadn't bought it the first time visiting there... So I went back and grabbed also the Heller Bf 109 G-2/5/6 kit. Now I can build a comparative double build of their G and their (mislabeled) K kits . V-P 4

What a great subject! I've often thought I'd like a 1:1 Fergie TE-20 to chunter about on Cheers, Mark

MrB17 Posted August 1, 2024 Posted August 1, 2024 I recently received a few Heller kits for my birthday, 1/72 Air France Boeing 707, 1/72 Douglas DC-6 Air France, and 1/72 Lockheed 749 Constellation. I now have a few more to add to this GB. There’s a few things I thought might be of interest to fellow Heller aficionados. A different stiffer cardboard used for the box, it’s not corrugated but more resistant to creasing. Inside, the use of soft black paper separates the main frames, and just the engines and clear parts in plastic bags. The decals look very nice, being thinner with a gloss finish, a big improvement over the matt ones with the stiffer carrier film. The plastic is also different, being more opaque. The instructions are in full colour as well. A complete surprise to me was the inclusion of a door hanger! This is a very nice touch and a great idea! One side says “KEEP OUT” Model building in progress, the other side says “COME IN” Let me show you my model kits. This will be used immediately! (the come in side). What I found a bit perplexing was the DC-6 being billed as a “What If”. I know that Air France operated DC-4’s, but I was curious about the DC-6. The kit has the airliner door moulded, not the cargo door. The decals have two different versions of Air France, one being an Air Atlantique DC-6B with the cargo door painted to resemble a DC-4, the other one has registration F-BHUA, billed as a “what if”. I actually found two photos, one in colour showing an actual DC-6 registered F-BHVA, that was used by Air France for about a year. The markings are identical to the kit with the exception of the registration. Fortunately the registration is in black, so the fix is easy. I still don’t know how they missed that? Cheers Jeff 6 1
wimbledon99 Posted August 3, 2024 Posted August 3, 2024 I so want a set of those door hangers. Either will mean no one enters my 'Dad Cave' ! 3

It’s actually just one, I got one in each kit, so I photographed them together to show the opposite side. I really could have used the keep out side years ago. The only visitors to my cave now are my grandkids who are not a problem, the problem is one of my cats likes to inspect my shelves from time to time, but he’s not broken anything yet. 🤞 Cheers Jeff 2

Oh yes, there is definitely a few hairs from Hector and Jester in some of my work. My previous cats, Cosmo, Kramer, Basil and Sybil are also included in some. Sybil liked to chew propeller blades and bite holes in my instructions, I have many keepsakes left behind. Fortunately I don’t enter contests any longer, I just have fun. Cheers Jeff 2
