Hi.

I also looked at Scalmates, with the same result. SK Models repackaged Heller kits in the 90s, they were sold as limited editions in the Wojsko Polskie= Polish Army edition. The company probably doesn't exist today.

Thanks for the extra photo - that's pretty conclusive! :) many thanks for bearing with me and welcome to the group build!

I like Heller building kits, they first appeared in boxes from Směr and later, after the coup, in original boxes. I built a lot of them, and the kits are still being built today. The boys in my modeling class also build them.

Much appreciated Tony.

I'd kill for a set of Renaissance decals; however those scans may come in useful should I come up short.

Cheers and thanks agan.. Dave

Good morning Dave

Sorry the owner of the Renaissance shop replied and the sheet is lo longer in stock ...

Best regards

Thank-you for trying Patrice, I truly appreciate your help here. I’ll see how I go trying to make my own… which sounds quite daunting!

New windows are all done but it takes about 10 times as long in to get everything back in, barely made a dent in the first few hours and that’s not anything in the picture……I will be able to start this gb eventually between now and the heat death of the universe

Was catastrophizing, powered through and took steps to be organised (rare for me) so didn’t have to do any repairs yet that has left me with an empty bench and only 1 draw still full of models so I think I can now start my etendard :)

Hey Dave @Rabbit Leader, thanks to @TonyW, I have spent the day creating fresh graphics, using the scans as a reference. I’m almost finished, just need a measurement to scale them. They are all in proportion, the big lettering had to be hand drawn, like many things in that era, sign writers did the majority of the work and fonts don’t look accurate for those. I’m doing everything on the renaissance sheet, I even found a scan of Couzinet’s signature! So now I’m going to have to get a Couzinet 70 myself! I knew this would happen..haha. I’m working with ProCreate on my iPad, so a bit tougher than Illustrator, but it works well with the Apple Pencil.

Cheers

Jeff, that’s fantastic news. I’ve just spent a few hours trying to do the same, however didn’t get too far and am still a long way off being satisfied with my efforts. You will most certainly need a Couzinet of your own, I was extremely lucky to nab this one for a good price at a local online used kit sale.
I look forward to seeing what you’ve masterfully created.

Cheers.. Dave

I've two peculiar shaped Heller MiG-21s (looks like the Ye-6V), and most of the parts of a Heller MiG-19.

My plan has been to make them into a Ye-2 and a Ye-4.

Would that be allowed in this group build?

Hi,

These sound like excellent projects!

Provided the base kits comply with the GB criterion of being a Heller tooling first released prior to 31st December 1985, then you're good to go!

Conversions or what-ifs are perfectly acceptable.

Hope that helps,

Mark

Decal Help please??

Not sure if I can ask this question here, however I'm 95% sure I've been lucky enough to score a Heller 1/75 Couzinet Arc-en-Ceil, however by the looks of things, the decals may be way beyond usable.

Just wondering if anyone knows (possibly Patrice @TEMPESTMK5?) how can I go about purchasing a set of out of production 'Renaissance models' aftermarket decals for this kit?

Failing that, a good quality useable Heller sheet may fine, however as this kit has not been reissued in a long time, I fear all kit decals may be in a similar state.

If anyone can provide any further help, I'm seriously considering building this kit up within this GB after a semi / custom build I'm currently undertaking.

Cheers, thanks and regards.. Dave

Having been away with work I've just been playing catch-up with this GB, it's looking good so far, well done to all those that have completed already or have made progress.  Hoping to have some time to play catch-up myself this weekend (although I need to plant some tomato, chilli and pepper seeds today).

We've got some great builds coming along already and our first Gallery photos, as well :) I need to start my entries, too! I've got as far as washing sprues, but that's all so far. I have been building a new workbench/desk in my hobby room/office, just need to clear the debris and make sense of it all

Enjoy your gardening!

Thanks Mark,

It was one of those trips where you spend all of your time travelling, eating, sleeping, in meeteings, travelling...   ...rinse and repeat.

I have to say, after this trip, I'm a BIG fan of Eurostar and the TGV!  Smooth, effortless and on time!

As for the gardening, something else came up and by the time I could get around to it my back was in agony, I'll have to give it another go tomorrow, plus some modelling and some other stuff...

Here's a possible option.  From the photos provided by @TonyW it seems to me that the fonts used could be available to a Windows grpahics program.  It should be relatively easy to knock up some graphics files which could then be printed by this company.

Thanks Enzo.

It looks like our good friend Jeff @MrB17 is on the case and more than happy to help. Just need to organise some correct dimensions and we should be in a good position to produce our own decals. Fingers crossed I (we) can pull this off!

Cheers.. Dave

That's a very nice model Mark @2996 Victor . Some really neat camouflage schemes for it, and a very shapely aircraft.

Looking forward to the WIP.

Cheers

Thanks, Jeff, it should be a bit of fun. This is "one that got away" when I was a youngster - I never managed to get one back then! It'll be the Romanian scheme, of course :)

Hi,

Welcome aboard and yes, please, either or both would be absolutely brilliant!

Just start a thread when you're ready and pop in a few pics as you go along.

Cheers,

Is it too late to join in the fun? I've got a F-84G to be built and painted in ROCAF livery. If Scalemates is to be believed, it's a 2014 rebox of a 1978 kit.
