the nasty voice telling me to get a Connie and build it as an early c-69, must resist as i should do the modern version of what i binned instead

Glad I didn’t listen to voice and get myself a Connie, just found out the heller kit can’t be built without new engine nacelles as a c-69…… that would have been infuriating  and also means the nasty voice has switched to another 4 engined prop that has been in the stash a while…..anyway no modelling for me for a few days, bench otherwise occupied

edit: turns out Ive been told the wrong day, actually thursday so bench is out of action all week, absolutely fuming 🤬

Just want to let everyone know that until I sort some car related issues, I wont be starting my kits for a while. Bruised the engine in my car on Friday, December 13 (yes THAT Friday), to the point that there is now a gremlin using Mjolnir trying to get out of said engine. Worked out the cost of putting an engine in, then went and bought a similar vehicle to put the best parts of the old one on. Great plan; picked up the car Sunday, got the rwc (MOT) Monday, changed the ownership details Tuesday, car broke down today, Wednesday. It's only a cam position sensor, but there is more tidying up required before a long trip south next week to see an old mate in New South Wales.

Keep watching, I'll be Bach.

Cheers,

Chris.

So sorry to hear of your car woes, Chris, I can certainly sympathise! There's plenty of time for plastic bashing, so just concentrate on getting your car sorted in time for your trip to NSW!

All the best,

Mark

Hi guys,

Ready to start my Morane 225!

morane13.jpg

However, as a Newbie it is my first participation to a GB and I still have to clarify a few points:

1. Do I need to open a specific post for my build, stating somewhere that it is done for this GB?

2. Do I need to post here also the progresses done on my build? Or only once completed?

3. I can't see where the target date is mentioned? Is it 31/12/2025?

Sorry to bother you with my stupid questions and many thanks in advance to show me the way 😉

Hi François and welcome to the GB! If you could start a new thread for your build, that would be great.

Under the Heller Classic GB heading, click on the "Start a New Topic" button to create your thread - have a look at the ones already started and you'll get the idea of the format. Please include the Heller reference number in the thread title.

Post as many updates and photographs of your progress in your build thread as you like, but more is better! :)

Once your model is finished, please post up to 5 photographs in the Gallery thread, link here.

The closing date for this GB is 8th June 2025.

Hope that helps, and good luck with your build!

Cheers,

Mark

Note also (for the benefit of other newbies) that one of the pinned topics/threads is "Welcome and Rules".  Most of the rules of these Group Builds are pretty standard, although there are some variations.

Welcome aboard!

Oh, since I'm here and reminded myself, just below my monitor is a "naked" Heller Fw 56.  Well, not quite naked- I painted the tyres and prop black, and painted the windshield frames, because it just didn't look right otherwise.  Come to think of it, the cockpit is painted too, because I'd done that more than a decade before.  A friend of mine is responsible for this idea of "naked builds", and I have to say that I really enjoyed it because:

  • I discovered that, since it was never going to be a "real" build, I didn't have the pressure of getting everything up to an imagined standard
  • This was my first parasol, and just getting it built was a fun challenge and chance to experiment (my first Lego jig!)
  • Instead of just painting the tyres "black" (or whatever) I took the opportunity to attempt a "used" (on a grass/dirt strip) look
  • Now I've got a cute little Stosser "in 3D" that makes me smile every time I glance down at it.

(I've now got a couple of the 1/48 ones in the stash, and every so often try to talk myself into spending the money for the 32nd resin kit.  Hello, ICM!  (You may have deduced that this is one of those types I'm rather fond of...)

New windows are all done but it takes about 10 times as long in to get everything back in, barely made a dent in the first few hours and that’s not anything in the picture……I will be able to start this gb eventually between now and the heat death of the universe

Decal Help please??

Not sure if I can ask this question here, however I'm 95% sure I've been lucky enough to score a Heller 1/75 Couzinet Arc-en-Ceil, however by the looks of things, the decals may be way beyond usable.

Just wondering if anyone knows (possibly Patrice @TEMPESTMK5?) how can I go about purchasing a set of out of production 'Renaissance models' aftermarket decals for this kit?

Failing that, a good quality useable Heller sheet may fine, however as this kit has not been reissued in a long time, I fear all kit decals may be in a similar state.

If anyone can provide any further help, I'm seriously considering building this kit up within this GB after a semi / custom build I'm currently undertaking.

Cheers, thanks and regards.. Dave

Hi Dave, that’s a kit I’ve been after, you lucky duck. The Heller forever forum has a very comprehensive 3 page build, with a lot of references, photos, drawings etc.

https://heller-forever.forumactif.com/t7099-couzinet-71-n05-arc-en-ciel-1-75eme-ref-l-335

If I had a scan of the decal sheet, I could whip up the graphics, which could then be printed. It would be worth my while, as someday I hope to get one. I only have an inkjet, so for myself, I would print the colour on white and the rest on clear, however once the graphics are done they could be printed by many different means.

Cheers

Appreciate the link Jeff @MrB17 and the offer to whip up the graphics subject to avail artwork.

Let’s hope someone comes up with another option or is able to scan the decals for us. Let’s see what turns up.
Cheers.. Dave

Good morning Dave

I just sent a message to the owner of the Renaissance store to find out if it's possible to buy this decals sheet . I'll let you know as soon as I get an answer.

Here are 2 links that may help you if it is impossible to order the decals sheet

Hey Chris, hope you get it sorted, cars are nice when the gremlin’s are on vacation. My gremlin’s have returned from vacation and now they’re causing a short that drains my battery. The wiring harness that connects all the lights and defrost in the boot lid, has bare wires showing! Today I will send the gremlin’s packing!

Cheers

Evening Dave, I've only just seen your post.

Here's the original sheet and the RM sheet as well. They should download at full size. They were scanned for me by a couple of friends when I was building mine during the last Heller GB. I hope these help.

Tony.

Much appreciated Tony.

I'd kill for a set of Renaissance decals; however those scans may come in useful should I come up short.

Cheers and thanks agan.. Dave

Hello.

Could I participate with this model? It's an old Heller kit, repackaged in Poland.

Hi,

I've had a look on Scalemates but haven't found this boxing and I can't spot the maker's name - could you possibly give us some more info, please?

Many thanks and kind regards,

Mark
