I'm confident @Wez will do a stirling job of hosting but anyone is welcome to just drop me a PM if anything crops up. :like:

This is going to be a terrific GB if the last one is anything to go by :fingerscrossed:

Wez knows far more about Heller than I ever will! Thanks for your offer of help, though, it's greatly appreciated!

No expectations then?

Thanks for the compliment...   ...I think? 🤔

Just a quick reminder, folks: can you please include the Heller kit reference number at the beginning of you build thread title?

Many thanks!

I have this little pile of sprues, no box, no instructions. The mold is obviously Heller 249 (Polikarpov I-153), but the decals point at a Směr reissue from 1985. If this is acceptable, I would like to join this GB and use the Yahu panel to (hopefully) boost the result.spacer.png

Perfectly acceptable and a fine choice, looking forward to seeing your build thread.

Actually, that reminds me, I'm sure I have one of these in the stash.

Just thinking - Whif is OK? Would maybe through in a Mirage V TSR 2 replacement. My other options are just too ambitious (1-72 707 or Lockheed Constellation).

Whifs are absolutely okay - it's all about building Heller's kits, how they're finished is up to the builder! Which reminds me..... :hmmm:

Mirage 5 or Mirage IV as a replacement for the TSR.2? The IV and the TSR.2 are of a similar size...

Sorry - nasty typo. Obviously did not hit "i" hard enough: Mirage IV of course. 1:48 scale.

Ha!

Thought as much, you're going super big with this one then.  As with the 1/72nd scale kit, give the spine some extra support, it's an awfully long join and is prone to flexing.

Not so much a whif as an out and out heresy!

If I whif the Mirage I will have to make the fuselage even a bit longer (+12 mm maybe) for the TSR2 avionics - thanks for the tip!

Would you though? The avionics would've been subject to continual development and would have taken up less space eventually. I guess it all depends on the time line for your WHIF, at the end of the day, it's your model to have fun with and I'm very much looking forward to seeing the results.

Yes it's good to go, there's already one entered in the GB and I have a Heller one in the stash.

Just thinking folk's,apart from Smer and Airfix did Heller turn up in any other companies Boxes?

Posted

Revell, Imai with Bentley Blower and Gunze had some cars like the Citroen 15 CV in 1/24th and some in 1/43rd scale. And there is the Humbrol boxing.

There's also Encore and Modelex, which are the kits sold to Argentina in the 1980s. Buzco in the 1960s and Aurora in the 1970s sold Heller kits in the USA. Lodela in Mexico and Kikoler in Brazil both sold Heller kits in their local markets.

Airfix, Lodela and Revell all released the 1/72nd Vampire.

KP released the AAC.1/Ju-52.

There's lots of releases out there that were Heller originals.

Glad I saw this doesn’t start for another 10 days, was going to start my etendard when postie delivers it….I’m also despite binning a large build due to the issues of it being an old kit and having little mojo in the tank hearing the nasty voice telling me to get a Connie and build it as an early c-69, must resist as i should do the modern version of what i binned instead

The I-153 was also in Aurora/Heller, Hasegawa, Modelist? and BUM boxes according to Scalemates.

I’m joining this one- with the Gloster Gladiator  Mk. II.   (Kit 270)

I picked it up as a bagged kit at the  club meeting last week-  it looks complete, though the decals are questionable.

Not sure what markings it will get- I’m leaning towards a Finnish or Swedish Winter War subject….
