May I interest you in some escargots?  I'm on the edge whether to join in this particular GB.  Doing so may mean starting my Noratlas early and bowing out of the Twin Boom sweepstakes.

 

The 707 is indeed big, and I am always eager to see how others do with this kit, having built two myself--never in fewer than 18 months.  Heller's DC-6B is more digestible, and @CarLos has a good formula for correcting the inaccurate shape of the lower rear fuselage.

As co-host of this GB I'm naturally pleased that you're thinking of bringing the Noratlas to the party

 

As the host of the Twin-Boom GB, I'm disappointed you may not be entering that GB, especially with a Noratlas

 

Are you sure you don't have 2 Noratlas that you want to enter, one in each GB???

Hmm, was just checking the 2025 GB calendar...

 

I've long been fond of the Heller Tempest V, and have one "in inventory".  This might be the perfect excuse!  (Scanning the first few posts reminded me that I also have a 707- hmm, perhaps a bit ambitious- and a 1/50-ish Piper L-4, of which the less said the better.  Offhand I don't know if I have any other Hellers within reach.)

 

Edit: Come to think of it, I've got a Curtiss SBC, too...

If it's any comfort, I'll be putting up (or maybe putting up with) the Heller 1/50 Cessna 337 in that.

Any if those possibles sound good to me (although I'm aiming low when it comes to complexity ), but I don't want to upset co-host @Wez, so perhaps save the Noratlas

On a family holiday to France in 1978 I came back with lots and lots of Heller kits.   I was convinced that this was bought at that time but the 30p price emblazoned on the box tells me that this was bought in the UK.  Can't remember when, but it has definitely been in The Stash since the early 80s.  The box is a little worse for wear after all that time, but the parts are pristine as their bag has never been opened.

Odd: their Spitfire I from much the same time was undersized too.  Or so I was told.

Can I come in?, Looking at the stash I have a few Hellers, but probably would take on a Lansen,  The Tooling is from 1982 so fits the bill nicely. 

 

Purchased in a model shop in Mildenhall in '97 so I think its time...

 

If I can get another set of Decals a Nor Atlas might be in order.

A Lansen would be great, good luck trying to find alternative stickers for the Noratlas.

With my obsession eccentricity with scales, I wonder what they do measure out at? 1/87 would strike me as a good one because it wold align with HO for continental model railways.

It is possible that my daughter have me the new Airfix one last Christmas, along with Sally B deals, but as the kit comes with markings for one based at Eye just up the road from me- what to do!?

And back to all things Heller...

I think I will build the "G" as a G-2/trop and decorate it with spare AZm decals for a JG 53 plane from Tunisia, in modified desert scheme. The "K" will be more difficult, I'd like to do something else than a 74/75/76 that I have more than a dozen already.  Maybe a post-war Finnish late G-6 in green/black?

I will not get sucked into this and must resist the siren voices but.... Scalemates has the Parisien bus as dating from the 1970s and it does look very tasty (for someone else).
