Xirurg Posted January 18, 2024 Posted January 18, 2024 This is my last model of 2023 - Avia Bk-534 by RS Models. When I was buying it at a store I was sure I'm getting Eduard kit. I don't know why I thought that, I think box art was similar. Anyway this is not Eduard quality kit. I wouldn't recommend it if you want nice relaxed build. Had issues with upper wing mount. I have old KP kit - even that one is better. First time using Mr. Hobby Aqueous paints and that was real pleasure to work with. 17
JWM Posted January 18, 2024 Posted January 18, 2024 Nice! The BK was the last variant of Avias's 34s,since they started with Avia 34... Interesting that you complain on RS kit. I have in stash old KP, RS and Eduard, each one of different variant but in box the RS looks not bad. I understand, that the build was not user friendly, is it the problem? Do you know perhaps, what is the story with rotated insignia on tail? Regards J-W
Armorrich Posted January 18, 2024 Posted January 18, 2024 Looks just fine to me. Nice work. Cheers..Rich
georgeusa Posted January 18, 2024 Posted January 18, 2024 If you had problems with the build, the finished product does not even hint they existed. RS Models are so hit and miss as to how they will fit together. But, they do have some interesting kits that are just appealing. Great build and finish of this kit. Thanks for sharing.

The starboard fuselage roundel is rotated 90 degrees, and the one on the port fuselage side should be on the underside of the right wing. Unlike the Dutch insignia, where the white field on the fuselage is always directed downwards and on the wing white is directed backwards, the Czechs have a blue field on both the tail, fuselage and wing, which is always directed forward. And the white is above the red on the fuselage and tail, while on the wings white points outwards - towards the tip. Cheers Michael 1 1

Regards J-W I guess I should've been more specific about the issues I had with the kit. My problem was mounting upper wing. Below is the picture of KP kit: Pins on interplane struts (1) and holes in the wing (2) look like adequate size. It was different for RS kit - both were almost non-existent so I have to drill holes in both wings and struts and put a thin metal wire in. The problem is struts are already thin so needed to use 0.2mm drill bit and corresponding wire which is so thin that it bends easily. That was the main issue. The rest was manageable. I haven't seen Eduard sprues but judging by the quality of their instructions manual I'm sure they took care about wing mount ))) As to insignia been rotated I went with what was on the box: Edited January 19, 2024 by Xirurg 1

Thanks for info on pines, I will take spacial care when gluing, your solution id the best option! Regards J-W 1
