Homebee Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 (edited) ThreeD-Wild Miniatures (link) is to release a (1/48th ?) 3D printed aircraft kit in 2024. Obviously a single engine fighter aircraft with a propeller. But what ? Source: https://www.facebook.com/groups/906471069393540/posts/24651795694434411/ Quote Thanks everyone who gave us help and their suggestions on our previous questions on choosing kits for 1/48 F6F, F4U and P-51, very helpful to us!! To fellow modelers who did not hear about us: we are a startup company based in the greater Philadelphia area who design/sell 3D-printed model kits. In 2024, we will expand our product line from only naval model kits to more unexplored possibilities. Making something no one has ever made before with high quality is always our goal We hope our new product under development may be useful or interesting to fellow modelers in this community. V.P. Graham Boak Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 Something that no-one has ever made before? Really?

TEXANTOMCAT Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 Hang on a second you don’t reckon it could be a Martin Baker MB-5 do you? 4

'Twould be nice, but cutaway drawings of the MB.5 show no sign of that third frame from the nose having a slight angle. https://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/scratch-building-aircraft-design-3d-cad-174/11650928-martin-baker-mb-5-giant-scale-build.html It is, however, present on the most familiar versions of the P-51: https://conceptbunny.com/north-american-p-51-mustang/ John 2

MrB17 Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 Certainly looks like a P-51, what I find a bit puzzling are the fixed extensions aft of the rudder post. Hmmm… Cheers Jeff
Homebee Posted January 17, 2024 Author Posted January 17, 2024 Pffff. What to say. Nothing. Bozothenutter Posted January 17, 2024 Posted January 17, 2024 Actually quite interesting! Hope it'll come with all interior gubbins!
John Thompson Posted January 17, 2024 Posted January 17, 2024 It appears to have the same cockpit coaming shape as a P-51D, but the P-51D would have a panel line in the centre of the upper cowling, where this aircraft has apparently got a narrow panel in that location. Unless it's an "artefact" of the rendering process. Did I say that right? John
Bozothenutter Posted January 17, 2024 Posted January 17, 2024 The weird bits could be there as protection for fragile areas. There are similar panels on the lower cowling and behind the canopy. Not sure about the protruding tail though, as that area looks pretty strong.
71chally Posted January 17, 2024 Posted January 17, 2024 Could it be a 'skeleton' structure to be fitted within an existing kit? Would seem unlikely due to scale thicknesses etc.

Would seem unlikely due to scale thicknesses etc. is there a full interior kit, to donate its 'gubbins'? only one that comes close is the 1/32 ZM Mustang. Quite like the idea though, there are a few PE kits out there that do the same thing. By LMCTC/MFH/jasmine model

Anyone interested please keep an eye on us!! V.P. 1
