WW2 Twins Inspiration Gallery

Airfix Wellington Mk.II completed for last year's Bomber GB.

Airfix Do 17Z, again from last year but this time in the Do 17 Family STGB.

Do17-033.jpg

Strictly speaking, this isn't a WW2 twin.   It's a Do 17E from the Spanish Civil War.

A number of twins from the Martime Patrol and Coastal Command GB in 2019.

Mos101.JPG

SDS-101.JPG

And a couple more from the recent De Havilland GB.

Although again, strictly speaking this isn't from WW2.  It's from 1948.

PBJ-1H, using Hasegawa PBJ-1H kit. Modified quite a bit based on an aircraft of VMB-613, which operated this aircraft in the Pacific.

Just a couple from me, there’s plenty more in the stash so let’s see what comes out for this GB?

1. Matchbox Wellington Mk.X with corrected Airfix canopy.

2. Airfix’s delightful Beaufort that appeared on Aussie shelves before any other place in the world?

Bristol Beaufort, made from the FROG fuselage, FROG Beaufighter cowlings, Airfix Beaufighter flying surfaces, and large amounts of scratchbuilt and spare parts:

(edit) ... and consequently a FROG Beaufighter with Airfix Cowlings to use up the spare bits:

Airfix Lockheed Hudson with a fair amount of tweaking:

As you can see, heavily biased towards the Allies! I hope to redress that a little in this GB.

Roden's excellent 1/144 C-47. By that I mean the plastic is excellent, the decals, meh. The OD operated in the ETO, the silver and yellow in CBI

c-47-done-b0c.jpg

Czech Model 1/48 JRF Goose. The blue is the wrong shade, but contrary to the kit's color scheme, and red and bare metal are correct.

And here's Mark I Models 1/720 K-class Blimp, based out of Santa Ana NAS.

My only two extant builds, both completed this year (many, many more were completed attempted in a substandard fashion and abandoned in years gone by):

Airfix 1/72 Blenheim Mk.IVF, completely OOB

Bristol Blenheim Mk.IVF

Tamiya 1/72 Mosquito FB Mk.VI with Blackdog bomb bay, cannon and flaps (and bomb carriers from the Blenheim kit above) and Aires cockpit and Brownings

Mosquito FB Mk.VI - Completed 2

Looking forward to this one :)

Just went down a rabbit hole over considering trying to make something out of the cheap snap fit rebel b-25 my local has, might still be considering had it been a J, so here’s my early Italeri b-25 F6864513-02-FB-4369-AC72-E385-BDB2971-D. and as it’s the only other twin I did in 22 in the same gallery here’s my Airfix p-38 1-A016-C9-E-A02-C-4-AF1-88-D7-A99-C8-CFE

Gee that looks lovely! Now I know why I had so far skipped all those Frog, Matchbox, Italorrible and Fine Molds attempts. Like Whitney said; saving all my love for you!
