johndon Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 (edited) My first ever year book as this is the first year since I joined the forum that I've actually finished anything! I'm not really an aircraft modeller but, as a break from 1/200 warships and in an effort to actually get some stuff actually finished, I got my hands on a number of 1/48 aircraft kits this year and here are the results. I'm no photographer and these were all taken with my iPhone. Tamiya 1/48 V1 built OOB and painted with Tamiya acrylics. Eduard 1/48 Spitfire Mk1 build OOB and my first ever Spitfire, painted with Tamiya acrylics but I had a hell of a time with the decals. Tamiya 1/48 He162 Salamander OOB but with Red Fox Studio instrument panels again painted with Tamiya acrylics. Academy 1/48 FW Ta183 again with Red Fox Studio instrument panels but otherwise OOB. and for something a little different, in 1/350 scale, the AIP Thunderbird 2 with TB 4. Whofan Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 (edited) A very nice selection there, well done! I've a soft spot for the Tamiya 1/48 V-1, as I've built one myself, and I enjoyed doing so. Lovely also to see Thunderbird 2 and a nice little diorama showing T-bird 4 going into the water. Edited December 28, 2023 by Whofan 1

Thanks, I might have another go at the V1 at some point and try not to break the nose propeller off next time 😁 1

MRMRL Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 Nice work there, very neat finishes on all of them, but then you are a ship builder, so that's not a surprise. Love the spitfire in particular. Very intrigued to see if Iowa gets a bit closer to finished in 2024, it's looking stunning so far, but I know how tough the big ships are to complete. 1

I hope so, it's been almost 7 years since I started on her!! 1

I do understand that, I've not taken quite that long on any ship so far, but I've had a few that I've lost the mojo on part way through. Good luck for 2024 1
bigbadbadge Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 Great work on these, loving that Thunderbird 2, it was always my favourite when watching when I was a young lad. Chris 1
Bertie McBoatface Posted December 29, 2023 Posted December 29, 2023 All good but Thunderbird 2 was the 1 that made me smile most. 😀 1
AliGauld Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 Brilliant stuff but I have to say the TB2 is magnificent. Cheers, Alistair 1
whitestar12chris Posted January 9, 2024 Posted January 9, 2024 Love what you did with TB2. all the best Chris 1
