Biggles87
Looks very neat. We bought a Honda Civic hybrid nearly two years ago after resisting an automatic for a long time and don’t regret the decision at all. It’s much smoother than the automatics I drove occasionally 30 odd years ago, very responsive and has all the bells and whistles that you mention.
Mr T
Thanks, we looked at the Jazz, but they are about 5k more new for a similar spec. This one has some interesting gadgets like traffic sign recognition, well, at least the speed limit ones, lane departure and a reversing camera, automatic wipers and lights. These are all new to us, the camera is good as our drive has a low wall to support the rockery on one side of the drive, easy to catch. I was surprised that it wasn't the highest spec, but still came with a lot, and the Excel didn't offer that much more for the money. I know with the Toyotas, the power train was designed from scratch as a hybrid and so the transmission was new. I think Honda did the same. The engine is apparently a modified Atkinson cycle engine withe variable valve timing and is quite common with hybrids I understand.

Karearea
Popped by Super Hobby this morning, and saw the Eduard 1/72 P-51D Royal Class boxing was on 40% off- the quickest purchase I think I’ve ever made. Glad I had resisted the Dual Combo for so long, this came to $8 less!
AdrianMF
This arrived in the post today: I've already built two, with Exito decals, and this one will be done in the box twin shark mouth scheme. I just really like the kit - not quite "peak Airfix" but jolly close. Regards, Adrian

Des
From Arnold Clark Motors 1/1 scale 74 Plate Vauxhall Crossland 1.2 Turbo Ultimate 5dr. , decided to replace existing car just under three years into a four year agreement , intention was basically as near to the same again please through the same sales rep as last time so all signed and sealed in one telephone call and a couple of emails spread over an hour (I hate the car showroom 'experience') , sadly the Crossland is being phased out so model availability has meant a higher spec than before and with the trade-in market being much calmer than during lock-down three years ago will be paying a bit more each month. From Ali Express 1:35 Cast Resins Mech Model Puzzle Kit , typically uninformative description for what can maybe best be described as a crab legged hovering gun platform as per the images below from the listing and of the resin parts as delivered , cost £12.00 including VAT and free shipping although the guns or at least gun barrels will need replacing , as usual provenance unknown and instructions are not included.

Overpriced for what is the Italeri tool with nice tamiya decals and pilot added but probably will sit there for years if I hadn’t got it.

Whofan
It was a visit to Birmingham today, and my feet felt strangely compelled to take me to Waterstones, where I bought theses; Philip Norman has written several books on the Beatles in the past, and this bio of George received very good reviews when it was originally published. I#m hoping those reviews fairly reflect the book when I read it. Moscow X - it seems to be a standard type spy novel, but I have read Damascus Station by the author, and that was pretty good, so I am presuming that the other book;s quality is repeated in this one. And finally Whatever happened to Slade? Indeed, we all should ask that question, as Merry Christmas aside, Slade were one of the best bands from the 70's who never kept their reputation and did fade from the public eye, except at Christmas of course, until a chance appearance at the Reading festival in 1980 gave them some more years, including a tremendous single called Radio (Wall of Sound) in 1991. I've always liked the Slade ethos; hard rocking, loud concerts, and irresistibly catchy singles. I think this book will be a fascinating read.
Biggles87
A metal profile/contour gauge arrived this morning, just in time for my latest project. My old one ( bought about 50 years ago ) was exactly the same type but hadn’t been used for quite some time had got wet at some time and when I dug it out the needles had gone rusty and seized up. 2
Des
From Aero Research 4017 Mirage III Collection , pdf download option for the latest addition to the series with 152 high resolution images. From Guideline Pubications Warpaint 144 – Mil Mi-4 Hound book , by Jakub Fojtik , latest release in the series published by Guideline , 88 pages in the usual format with history illustrated in colour/black & white , 39 colour sideview profiles and scale plans. From Mortons Books Snooperbase Waddington book , by Mike Hiley , latest hardback release from Mortons , 120 very well illustrated pages covering the base and it’s ISTAR role over the past 30 years as well as exercises , airshows , visitors etc. Via eBay (trijet 50 and Marcs-Magazines) 30 1980s/90s Air Fan / Air Action / Avion Revue magazines , first two in French with English photo captions , last in Spanish – excellent photography on subjects not too often covered in the UK at the time. From Ali Express Less than imaginatively named listing as 1/35 YUFAN Model YFWW2230 Resin Robot Model Figure, Mech Battle Tank resin kit although the images bear the description T-90 Tank Robot Combat Team and refer to the ‘Earth Resistance Army resisting interstellar invasion in 2090’ , however no idea if this is part of a wider genre. Subject is a T-90 inspired tank turret on a four-legged crab style walker body and makes for sizeable chunks of well moulded resin (e.g 9”/230mm ‘footprint’ and similarly sized gun barrel). Plus VAT and with free shipping cost around £25 , no instructions included but exploded parts views included in the listing , composite of the listing images and one of the resin parts as delivered shown below.

stevehnz
A couple of older kits off the local auction site, an Airfix Thunderbolt, an original boxing with its Penrod & Sam decals & in pretty good nick, also a Frog Mustang II kit, not turned up yet but I already know it is missing an inner gear door, the seller said he would chuck in an Airfix one, we'll see how it goes. As the only 1/72 kit of this version, I'm keen to have a look at it. Steve.

As the only 1/72 kit of this version, I'm keen to have a look at it. Steve. Oddly enough, I was looking at some hand-written lists of kits for sale recently. They were being offered to a friend of mine who owns a small store selling mostly die-cast vehicles, with some kits. He wanted me to make sense of what was on the lists. I spotted an entry which (after studying the poor handwriting) I deciphered as "Remus 1/72 Mustang Mk. II". After a few seconds, I twigged this was a late 1970s reboxing (actually rebagging) of the Frog kit. My friend is not confident the prospective seller will actually come back and sell the kits, but if he does, I have my name on that Mustang.
