PhantomBigStu Posted April 7, 2024 Posted April 7, 2024 Haven’t got myself any 1/200 snap fits for a while and been browsing them this weekend, some of the ones I wanted had sold out so had a decision, in the end decided to get one savwd in my eBay basket before someone else gets it, a premier planes BA 757 3
593jones Posted April 9, 2024 Posted April 9, 2024 From EBay, Fine Moulds F-14A Tomcat in the IRIAF boxing. Certainly looks a cracking kit in the box, hope I can do it justice! 5
Bullbasket Posted April 9, 2024 Posted April 9, 2024 This arrived today, courtesy of Jadar Hobbies. Now all that I have to do is resist the temptation to start it before I've finished my current build. John. 10
Head in the clouds. Posted April 9, 2024 Posted April 9, 2024 Hinckley show was kind for me, I bought the grand total of two items. First is #141 Warpaint Viking, Valetta and Varsity. It has given me a few new ideas for future builds; Next up was this beauty and one I did not expect to find simply because I did not realise it was out there , Micro Mir John Cobs Crusader K6 ; I wish more manufacturers would produce kits like this. Last up a pre Hinckley purchase, Dspiae electric mini sander, should come in handy with my scratch building; Until the next show...🤑 3
flyboy2610 Posted April 10, 2024 Posted April 10, 2024 I have one of these stands coming. From the UK. Via eBay. Plane not included. 🙍♂️ 1
zdsjrx Posted April 10, 2024 Posted April 10, 2024 My latest purchase is the 1 / 700 HMS Renown 3D printed reversion of the wheel model (1 / 700 Renown with a trumpet player). I think this 3D printing kit is very well made for 500 CNY around £55 3
Keeff Posted April 10, 2024 Author Posted April 10, 2024 A small delivery from Scale Model Shop .... Replacement airbrush needles and nozzles, paint, part clips and a Spitfire .... I've not built an ICM kit yet, but it was cheap! Keith 😁 3

In other news… I already have one on the shelf, recently refurbished. I had said I’d like another bash at the build if I came across a kit, so when Airfix announced the reissue I sort of accidentally on purpose preordered one. Thing is, I don’t need another MkV for the 1940 collection. However, Flightpath, care of Mr David J Parkins, makes a conversion kit that will give me a Tiger radial engined MkII or MkIII, both of which were still lumbering around in training roles in my chosen period. Or I could just build it straight. Decisions, decisions… 7

klr Posted April 10, 2024 Posted April 10, 2024 Visiting a model shop with stocks of Eduard and Heller kits qualifies as "an occasion of sin". Over the course of two days, I helped myself to this lot: The Nieuport 17 is a double kit, complete with etched parts and five subject options, all for an exceptionally good price. The Fw 190 A-5 includes options for both 2- and 4- cannon wings, which has been done by providing two full airframes (alas, not including the engine face or standard propeller). I can't think of a way to make up another kit from this largesse though. The Noratlas is another double kit, again for a price so good I just couldn't resist. I have one in the stash for over 30 years, but could never make up my mind between the various camouflage options. The Canadiar CL-215 I first bought the same time as my first Noratlas, but the minimalist decal sheet put me off, as well as painting yellow on yellow plastic. This rebox fixes that. The kit is now molded in grey plastic, and sports an enormous decal sheet (see below), which includes an option for a white and green aircraft based in Saskatchewan. So now I know what subject the yellow plastic will be used for. I foresee either the Noratlas or CL-215 being included in the Heller GB next year. Maybe even both, who knows? The Super Etendard might also be in the mix. I never bought this kit back in the day, preferring the Italeri/Academy kit instead. The consequence of this madness was a further clear-out of the stash, but that's another story. 6

Only I’d promised I wouldn’t buy any more large kits for a while, and hadn’t realised how difficult the box would be to conceal… it’s at the back of the garden shed right now. 1 3

Andy H Posted April 11, 2024 Posted April 11, 2024 More quick service from Starling Models - 1/700 15" brass gun barrels, resin upgrades for IBG G-I/ Hunt class destroyers, RN crew figures and RAF/FAA roundels. That'll give these tired old eyes a good workout...🧐 3
Mr T Posted April 11, 2024 Posted April 11, 2024 Currently on the bus home from Leeds after a trip this morning to Halifax. I went to buy some paints for the South of the Border GB, as not the colours I usually have in stock. Came out with the new Dora Wings 1/72nd scale Vengeance and the RS Model Airspeed Envoy. The bus I am is one of Arriva Yorkshire super-smooth luxury buses (not). Shaking so much the phone screen blurs every few seconds. 2
Captain Glumbo Posted April 11, 2024 Posted April 11, 2024 I'm amazed you got an Arriva in WY. My bus to work (254/255) is so hit and miss I have to take the 90 min walk into Leeds!
bentwaters81tfw Posted April 11, 2024 Posted April 11, 2024 1 x 1/48 U-2A 1 x FB-111A + aftermarket 1 x 1/32 Harrier as a parts donor 2

This is a regular occurance on the 444/446 route especially outside peak hours. Being 70 I am not directly paying the fare, which just about makes it tolerable, but I feel sorry for anyone relying on the route to get to work etc.

Could always say one of your modeling friends bought it and gave it to you, as he decided he no longer wanted it ? Or if you belong to a club it was won in a raffle ? I’ll transfer the sprues to ziplock bags sometime and everything will be fine. ‘Large Kits’ are more like V Bombers in 1/72. 1

PhantomBigStu Posted April 12, 2024 Posted April 12, 2024 Loyalty to my local has backfired, got my Tamiya f35a this morn and fancied getting myself the Revell/italeri a to build now, appeared in stock on my locals only to find it wasn’t and caused a fuss (which I hate to do) whilst they attempted to confirm it and offered me the (expensive) Tamiya f-35b which I refused and felt bad so left with a Hasegawa kfir as stash fodder. Could have had the Revell 35 delivered today from Amazon if just ordered this morning…… 1
