Heather Kay Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 Putting my analyst on standby… Vaccum? Oh dear. Oh deary deary me. I suppose this should be classed as an aid to scratch building. No wonder the previous owner(s) never quite got round to attempting to build it. 13
Karearea Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 An Iwata 0.35 needle from a local auto parts shop that was having a store wide sale. Have been using one I damaged and sanded smooth for a couple of months, looking forward to the improvement. A Special Hobby P-40M and Arma Airacobra from a supplier in Aus. Both roughly half the price I would have bought them for here, and postage across the ditch wasn’t too bad either. Finally an original bagged Frog Sea Venom which I’ll build in the GB. I was going to sit that one out, but I couldn’t resist the Venom to go with my recent Vampire completions. 3

Turned out they had a book sale and a 15% off sale on used items... two models for $3.75 each! Great surprise. That Roy Cross Lancaster artwork! I never tire of it. 2

While I need this model in my collection (damned completist that I am), if Hannants had posted better images I might well have passed it over. It’s going to be some time before I even begin to think about building this kit, though, so plenty of time to work out potential solutions. 1
stevehnz Posted February 28, 2024 Posted February 28, 2024 A couple of LF decals sheet via Aviationmegastore with Hellcat markings similar to aircraft in the recent thread on early Hellcat colours. Steve. 1
PhantomBigStu Posted February 28, 2024 Posted February 28, 2024 (edited) some xtradecal Vulcan decals yesterday and an promised trip to hobbycraft wasn’t as successful as I’d hoped from a browse of their website (was a smaller store.m than the one in the other direction I thought it would be), still left with some Revell paint, a mistercraft spitfire viii and storage diveder that turned out to be too big for my desk draw as intended, but ended up replacing a cardboard box and big basket underneath so can’t complain, also just missed out on an airfix trs2 on eBay tonight. Edit 29/02, thanks to ebays leap year special discount and some saved vouchers I've just got some more AK paint and the new Tamiya F-35A for little over 20 quid delivered, result Edited February 29, 2024 by PhantomBigStu 4
Procopius Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 The hideously expensive Kampfraum Arnheim, 2nd Edition, by RZM Publishing. Hope it's good. 1/72 Special Hobby Suez F-84F The Roer River Battles: Germany's Stand at the Westwall, 1944-45 by David Higgins And the Polar Lights 1/2500 Strange New Worlds iteration of the USS Enterprise, for Mrs P, who likes it for Spock-related reasons that I choose to remain as ignorant of as possible. 6
Keeff Posted March 1, 2024 Author Posted March 1, 2024 Well, ahead of the Tiger group build, I ordered some weathering effects and some figures .... I've no experience of Zvezda, but a quick look reveals they look ok .... Keith 😁 3
AliGauld Posted March 1, 2024 Posted March 1, 2024 I've been tempted by this since it was announced and after finally pulling the trigger this arrived today. Trying desperately not to start it right now. 5
PhantomBigStu Posted March 1, 2024 Posted March 1, 2024 (edited) Popped to my local to try a Vallejo air that was supposed to be good for extra dark sea grey based of measurements, turned out my local had old stock where it was labelled different and it’s way too dark for that (or indeed the grey Vallejo think it should be), least I also got an airfix mustang so it wasn’t a wasted trip Edited March 1, 2024 by PhantomBigStu 2
Karearea Posted March 1, 2024 Posted March 1, 2024 Some Vingtor decal sheets arrived today- a RNoAF F-16 in 1/72 and RNoAF F-86 in 1/48. Also bonus decals for a 1/144 Starfighter which are lovely in their own right. Really impressed with the quality of both design and print, and the excellent customer service. I’ll definitely be buying more sometime. Thanks @Vingtor 1

Vallejo Airbrush Thinner, Vallejo Flow Improver. A "High Roller" trigger for the tiny, tiny, tiny Badger Renegade Krome airbrush in the hope my hand will stop cramping the instant I try to use it. scautomoton Posted March 2, 2024 Posted March 2, 2024 A very nice chap in the US of A posted a Victoria Models Avro Arrow vacform which arrived today. For something from the 70s it's got amazingly accurate dimensions and detail. It even comes with a 1/72 scale set of drawings. But, and here's the only negative side of the kit, you have to scratchbuild the undercarriage. 4

Memphis Posted March 2, 2024 Posted March 2, 2024 Here are my latest purchases that I received this week. I'd like to review Trump's Intruder, but it will not be soon. I know about the mistake with the main wheel well and I think there are more mistakes. 5
treker_ed Posted March 2, 2024 Posted March 2, 2024 1 x modelling purchase, and 1 x non modelling! Finally getting my hands on one of the excellent Fairy Gannets from Airfix! Have had to wait a while to save a little of that funny stuff called money before I could get one - however, as it has also been double Hornby Hobby points over the last few days on in stock items, I thought now was a good time to buy one. Along with what points I had already, and the 10% club discount, managed to bag one for less than £43! My second purchase is not so much of a bargain! Being a gamer (PC) Good sound is a must, and sadly my current speaker set up is beginning to sound less and less high end, and more and more bargain basement, with lots of popping and crackling coming from the speakers and subwoofers (it's a 5.1 surround system). Just decided to buy a new set of speakers from Overclockers, by a company called Edifier. Not a company I'd heard of, but the speakers themselves seem to have had some really good reviews since they were released, so decided to go with them. Seems to be very few actual 5.1 speaker systems around these days, they are either ultra high end (several hundreds of pounds) or just piddly little desktop speakers £20 or £30 or so. Everyone wants headphones that emulate surround sound! No thanks. I'd rather have proper speakers (besides I find wearing headphones very uncomfortable, and annoying - could be a sensation thing as I'm autistic and don't like certain sensations/touches/smells/tastes etc). Anyway, £160 plus delivery! 5
Keeff Posted March 4, 2024 Author Posted March 4, 2024 Well, after discovering that Jadlam are having a sale, I appear to have ordered one of these ..... Saved quite a bit on it ..... and it should be delivered in the next day or so ...... adding another kitty to the litter! 😬 Keith 😁 8
klr Posted March 5, 2024 Posted March 5, 2024 Not much happening recently, but I did get a second Roden Junkers D.I, the long fuselage version to go with the short version I got a couple of months ago. The refined corrugated detail on these kits looks very impressive. 5
MrB17 Posted March 5, 2024 Posted March 5, 2024 I just had to get one of these, especially after seeing what @woody37 has done with his. Now all I have to find are a bunch of 1/72 British nurses. Cheers Jeff 6
scautomoton Posted March 6, 2024 Posted March 6, 2024 Had an Olimp BAC 221 just handed to me by the Postie. This will compliment the Dora Wings FD2 I recently received. I suspect I'll build both simultaneously. In fact, to get through the stash, I may have to start doing this with a few of the others...... 2x SR P.177, multiple Lightnings..... I think I may be losing track of what I have under the desk.... 1
bentwaters81tfw Posted March 6, 2024 Posted March 6, 2024 Dora Wings FD2 and a Hasegawa F-22 Egg plane appeared yesterday. I'm sure I didn't order them . Now waiting on a Kitty Hawk 1/48 Starfire. 2
