It’s a great scheme - looking forward to seeing it.

The recent weather here being too hot and humid for actual modelling in my study, I started some preparatory research into Kuttelwascher’s aircraft to see what else I need for the model and, well, :worms:  Now I’m more confused then ever.

I guess where there’s ambiguity at least no one can say your interpretation of the scheme is wrong?! Good luck getting those worms under control. 🤣

No doubt you came upon this build, seeing as it makes use of recent research it is possibly a good starting point. The Arma Hobby blog seems pretty authoritive. Whatever you do, take no notice of the Frog scheme. :)

I have indeed, probably how I’ll do mine, not that it will be anywhere near that standard!  I built the Frog one as a youngster, many years ago, wasn’t aware of its inaccuracy at the time (and probably didn’t care anyway).  Bit of a shame the “Night Reaper” nose art is a complete fiction.

Welcome to the GB! Any thoughts on markings?

Hi, I am new to the forum but I am in love with Hurricanes. Is it still possible to join the group build?

Best regards

Everyone is allowed to enter group builds. This one wont start until August 6th of 25. So plenty of time to figure out which Mk., markings, and collect it all. Once the build is moved to active/current group builds about 1-2 weeks before the official start you may start a work in progress thread. You will have 90+ days to attempt to finish. As a regular host finishing is not a requirement, only that you enjoy your time spent in the group build. @Wings unlevel can add you to the list at his convenience and add anything additional to what I’ve said.

Hi @SzilardUK, welcome to the forum and to the GB. I think Dennis has more than ably covered the mechanics, but if you have any questions about the GB process please just shout out. I'll add you to the list of participants, but there is absolutely no obligation to take part if if plans change or life gets in the way. Not everyone who does sign up to a GB will be able to participate in it, signing on is more an expression of support and intent.

Britmodeller GBs are great fun, but a warning, they can be addictive!

But I'm glad that you did, Mark! My main entry will be a 1/48 Arma, and I reckon the brand will be pretty popular here!

Thanks, Gerard - I think you're absolutely right as the Arma kits have a great reputation! It's just a case of deciding which one..... probably a recce version as at least the colour scheme should be simple!!!

Mark

Nice, a simple yet menacing scheme! Can’t wait to start on mine…

Please count me in. I have plenty of options in my stash, most likely candidate is a IIc in 309 sqn markings.

Welcome to the build. I like the sound of a 309 Sqn build. Will that be with the Arma Hobby kit?

Thank you! Indeed, it will be the Arma Hobby one, a wonderful kit. Plus Master guns. I also have the Eduard Mk. I kit in case I manage a quick completion of the first one 🙂

Good plan! I hope to squeeze a second build in too (main one will be a 1/48 Arma Hobby). But I always manage to bite off more than I can chew in GBs. 🤣

I have so many Hurricanes on my to-build list, I'm spoiled for choice on this one and will almost certainly build several. I'm leaning towards Mk.IIb BP654 as my first entry. A bit of an odd duck this one.

I'll be building her as a 2-seat conversion with what appears to be no guns, USAAF colours & markings, and a shark mouth from her time as a squadron hack with the 350th FG.

The Arma IID from their Black Friday sales just arrived on my doorstep.

Those marking schemes are… very very fetching. I don’t think I’ll have the enthusiasm for the very plain 488 Sqn Hurricane when I know the IID is in the stash, so one of the 20 Sqn SEAC options is the current frontrunner.

The 488 Sqn would be more interesting as a more meaningful diorama one day.

How good does it look with that shark mouth?!

Have to say I’m partial to the SEAC schemes too, I do like the dark blue/pale blue roundels.

I THOUGHT I'd signed up for this, but I can't see anywhere that I have; anyway, I'll do it. I have three possibilities- maybe build one, maybe all!
