Hello, dear friends.

I apologize for the long silence.

We have another XP-72 Ultrabolt conversion kit ready for release in 1/48 scale for the Tamiya kit and in 1/32 scale for the Hasegawa kit.

The conversion will include two options with both a four-bladed propeller and a six-bladed counter-rotating propeller.

We are now finishing preparations for casting the kits.

In a few days I will post photos of the first castings, and in ten days we will open pre-orders for sets in our store.

We were forced to suspend work on the XP-85 Goblin kit and its release was postponed to 2024 due to the difficult situation in Ukraine and delays in the supply of some materials for work. The delay in production benefited the kit, we decided to replace some of the small parts that we intended to be made by casting with parts made by 3-D printing. I hope you enjoy these changes.

We continue to work.

Thank you for your support during this difficult time for Ukraine.

Sincerely from Ukraine, Andrey.

Oooh! Nice 🤤 but I still need to order my XP-47H :(

I have mine and it's a beautiful piece of work literally highly detailed plastic parts but in resin. Not cheap but fantastic value for money. The Ultrabolt is a pinnacle of madness and will also be ordered but my next purchase is the P-38 floatplane.

Sounds brilliant! I've always loved the XP-47H, even as a nipper I managed - I don't remember how - to order an Airmodel conversion in 1/72. Sadly, it was never finished. Time to remedy that in 1/48!

I had the same experience with their Ta-154 Moskito, Mail order from MJH(?) in Wimbledon by letter and Postal Order. The canopy was my downfall.

I think that was who my XP-47H came from! :)

I built the vacform fuselage and scratch built a cockpit of sorts - pretty good for a 9- or 10-year old! But I couldn't get the recommended donor kit for the wings etc. The one I got had the lower wings moulded in one piece with part of the fuselage (Airfix?), and I didn't want to slice it up. So the conversion was never finished.

Pre-orders are open!

No they are not....🤣🤣🤣

I'm over enthusiastic and can't tell the difference between 47 and 72....

A quick email got it changed to the 72 though.

(So basically I did pre-order it then.....🤔)

Pre-order put in for 1/32, I'm anxiously waiting for the XF-85 Goblin. I was very impressed with Halbert's quality & service on my last order ( the XP-47H ) and would recommend them highly.  Thank you Homebee for the Pre-order info. Cheers.

Maybe it's me, but the curve of the nose kinda jumps out at me.

like there is a bulge that drops too steeply to the front 'ring'

still getting one though....

I've been looking at this area for a couple of days now and I believe that Halberd are pretty close to the real deal. There are a couple of views showing a more definite break which seem distorted in other ways and a lot of drawings, profiles and model photos showing a clean line from front to rear that can't be right when you look at the nose area.
I think it will look different under a coat of primer as the light reflecting from the resin surface could be misleading.

There's film on Youtube of this beast with the engine running which makes anything else seem like a kitten. Awesome.

I've just read that the fuselage was based on the XR-12 Rainbow engine nacelle so best get six while you're at it 🤪

That's interesting  because the Rainbow nacelles look symmetrical.

And this would mean that any side-on shot can be used for comparison, as you're always looking at a profile.

(Not counting colour edges etc of course)

I haven't looked into that claim yet so take it with a pinch of salt. I think lining the front fuselage with Milliput or similar before assembly would be good insurance in case better information comes to light.

This plane was huge so edge distortion is a certainty, I think the best we can hope for is factory drawings appearing from somewhere.
