gregg136 Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 Evening all, After a relatively quiet period I decided to torture myself with another AFV Club kit. This time it’s the M109 Doher. As usual for AFV club it was frustrating but the end results are always worth the effort. However, I feel the need for a Tamiya kit as a cleanser. May do a 2nd M51. Brush painted using the usual AK IDF paint set (modern grey), their tyre and track set and just a light weathering with some Tamiya Dark Iron and a sand weathering stick. Thanks for looking. 15

I have it partly built, but I will get around to it one day. But despite that, you've done an excellent job on it with just the right mount of weathering. Good work. John.

Thanks I have a weird relationship with AFV I don’t particularly enjoy building them as they are a bit over engineered and the instructions aren’t the best. But I’m always impressed with the end result so I stick with them. The only real hair pulling moment was the baskets on turret, the bars all had parts missing/snapped off so I had to rely on the PE for strength which I always struggle with beyond basic folding. 2

Andy H Posted November 9, 2023 Posted November 9, 2023 Hefty looking piece of kit. Very nicely done. 👍
FrancisGL Posted November 16, 2023 Posted November 16, 2023 Hi Gregg, A final result that is more than acceptable despite everything. Very much in agreement with AFV, their kits seem over-engineered and with regular instructions, but with a lot of detail and if you are able to finish the model, the result makes a difference. Cheers Francis.👍 1
LeeM Posted November 16, 2023 Posted November 16, 2023 Very nice indeed. Subtle weathering used to great effect. 1
