Done that. It's just named F-16 STGB

And next year we have 50 more shades of grey with the F-35 STGB!

Memorials and Gate Guardians?

I would think Warbirds should be a part of this. ? They're flying memorials to the legacy the aircraft created.

I've had a couple of ideas for wide ranging GBs that can bring a bigger crowd but still have a unifying theme so it feels like a GB. I was thinking to wait til this year's Bunfight was done and dusted...but why? So I will put them up now and see what happens.

I think a GB about objects being preserved would fill it all.

I've been pondering something similar for a while, picturing Harrison Ford saying "It belongs in a museum!", just haven't figured out all the details.

The idea would be anything still around today, past its initial time of original usage. Anything that can be found in a museum, or still shown off today that's a relic of its time. Replicas would be okay. The goal is to display something you'd be able to go and see in real life.

This could include a variety of ships, tanks, cars, airplanes, etc.

I know here and in the UK there are steam locomotives that are kept running as a form of living history. They would also make a great subject.

I think it’s a winner. It’s one that I’d be very keen on.

Victory, Warrior, Cutty Sark, Great Eastern, X-Craft, Belfast, The IWM collections. Carriages, Armour as in suits. Castles, lighthouses. And all so easy to reference.

another all inclusive GB with a strong unifying theme.

Im very enthusiastic!!!!

So a Relics, Restorations, and Replicas GB?

An F-16 STGB would be right up my alley. :D

I just bought four more to the stash. :banghead:

Where do I sign up?

/Bosse - who's planing to build at least one F-16 from every country who operates them....

Go Figure

A build that includes a least one figure eg pilot, driver, ground crew, AFV crew, spectator etc or figures/busts on their own. Wide scope for lots of genres, vignettes and dioramas.

perhaps a picture of the real thing in its museum could be a condition of entry. That would stop the haggling.

No what ifs?

presumably no weathering at all?

I CALL DIBS!🤣🤣🤣🤣

Go for it. I severely lack the time needed to to host a GB, let alone finish a model for it 😆

Thinking on it a bit more

A picture, or info that it exists. Doesn't have to be currently in a museum, private hands is fine too. Plenty of warbirds and racecars are privately owned, but would meet the build. The idea is the object needs to be theoretically available to see, from something buried in a collection getting dust, a far away museum, or your local museum.

What if's could be limited, like how something would look after restoration. For example, the Smithsonian has a B7A2 in its collection that will be restored someday. However, we don't have pictures of it. Maybe we could let someone build what it'd look like when finished. Same with other projects that are undergoing restoration currently, like the B-17 "Swoose".

Weathering could be okay if the item has it. A P-51 on display might be clean, whereas the Le Mans winning Toyota LMP1 is filthy after 24 hours of racing, and has been left like that.

I think that's enough flexibility to allow a large variety of builds.

Aaagh! I tried to delete this mad impulse but I wasn't quick enough. I couldn't be relied on to host this for the two years needed. I cannot offer that kind of stability, alas, and must withdraw. I'm very sorry.

I'm sure someone will pick up this loose ball and fling it into the goal.

Dare say there's four suitable kits in the stash and, @Hockeyboy76will be pleased to know, a Hasegawa egg-plane so will propose an STGB for 2025 shortly.

Oooh that's a cool idea :speak_cool:  Are you going to propose it or do you prefer that someone else takes it on?

Four Turning or Burning?

Anything with four props or jet engines. Could even be ships too I guess but I was more thinking of large aircraft.

A couple ideas I'd like to see would be...

Contraprop GB - Any aircraft with counter-rotating propellers. Good examples would be the Gannet, Shackleton, Fr.46 or 47 Spits, single engine or paired engines running through a common hub.

Ghosts of the Air - Any aircraft lost, either in combat or accident, war time or peacetime.

Well I’d be up for any of them. I particularly like the dazzle and fantasy cam proposals. What about compiling them into a single camo build and encompass any scheme with three or more colours eg losenge, digital etc….

My random ideas. Some of these have been floated over the last couple of years, but never got anywhere that I know of. They all have very wide scope in terms of subject matter and scales.

- Field artillery: Including self-propelled. Rocket launchers allowed. Railway guns also welcome. How far back in time? Medieval siege engines? Who knows?

- Anti-tank: Towed guns, self-propelled, specialised infantry units (bazookas, RPGs, ATGMs, PIATs, mines ... dogs?), as well as any fixed- or rotary-wing aircraft either designed, configured or equipped for anti-tank work.

- Military dioramas: Any era, any subject matter, but excluding airfield settings.

Also: Primary or advanced trainer aircraft. Armament not allowed, except for the purposes of specialised training. I think the last such GB was in 2019.

I think an Action! GB would be a fun idea ... any subject as long as it's in a dynamic, action-packed pose or setting, rather than just sitting on the tarmac looking dull.
