People often have ideas for GBs but they never see the light of day because the originator, for whatever reason, doesn't want to promote and host them personally. (If you have an idea that you DO want to run, for heaven's sake don't mention it here!)

Reading here about these 'free offers' of ideas might lead to more people coming forward with other and potentially brilliant themes. I thunk up these eight tonight, none of them seem brilliant to me but perhaps they'll start the ball rolling. It should be needless to say this but I don't want to promote/host any of these ideas myself.

Paint it Black - anything from a Ford-T to an SR-71

I got the Blues - Similar but in a different colour

I got wood. Scratchbuild, convert or simply replace parts of your plastic kit with timber. Show us your carpentry skills

Fantasy Cam - (no, not that) Make up an entirely original camouflage scheme and justify it with a little back-story

Birth of the Machines - A factory floor diorama

Show us your guts - Build an interior in a museum cutaway style model

Razzle Dazzle - A GB for dazzle camouflage first used in WW1 and still tinkered with today - Tanks, ships, planes, animals.

Cut and Shut - Blend two different subjects into a crazy what-if. A U-boat with the wings of a HP Victor came up in a conversation recently. A Corsair with Stuka wings?

If anyone wants any of them, please help yourself. First to start a topic takes on the jobs of promoter and host.

Upside-downers. Little dioramas in which the main element is upside down for the most original of reasons

I am on fire tonight! :jump_fire:  (That's not an idea but if you can work with it...)

Could be followed by the 50 Shades of Grey GB…

How about a GB based on the early jet fighters from 1943-1953. "Dawn of the jet age"? 🤔

How about that indeed? A period of transition is always interesting...

I think it could be fun with experimental and prototype jets to commercial jetfighters. 😙

I´ve put it out there to see if anyone would be interested. Do I need the credentials of a GB-leader to make these propositions? 🤔

Brilliant! Exciting to see if there are any takers out there, who are willing to jump on the wagon. 😁

How about one where you build a model and make a meal to go with it? A sailing ship with salt pork and biscuit. A spaceship with a meal in a tube. A tank in the desert with corned beef.

The idea of brainstorming is that you offer up all ideas uncensored, because even the rubbish ones might lead someone else into inventing the GENIUS suggestion. Please feel free to join in.

How about one where everyone builds exactly the same kit - now that would be different :worms:

It is and been done twice in the last few years. The first everybody built 1/72 Airfix P-51’s. The second was the 1/72 Revell Hawk jet trainer. I believe both builds were sponsored by a hobby shop. I think Jadlam’s but could be wrong.

The Boneyard..... any wrecked , abandoned sorely outdated and unused piece of equipment.  Wrecked aircraft at the end of the runway, stripped for spare parts, Davis -Mothan boneyard ,the U.S. Navy Mothball Fleet , Wrecked and abandoned tracked vehicles,(pick a war) and of course the local junkyard.

I was reading something up about a chap that got a VC and got to thinking - how about a "For Gallantry" GB ?  To broaden it out it could include a model of any machine that the recipient was associated with ie aircrew with aircraft; sailors with ships; soldiers with tanks and vehicles etc.  It should also cover our US friends and others from around the world so Medal of Honor winners; Legion D'Honneur winners and so on.

It might have traction in that it covers a wide range of potential subjects and nationalities.  Maybe encourage members to do a "homer" ie someone/ the subject being the same nationality as the modeller member himself.  Could be interesting for some of the members in more exotic locations perhaps

Just thoughts and feel free to shoot down.

No shooting down ideas here, this is a brainstorming project, so ALL thoughts are welcome. Who knows what they might inspire in someone who is willing to host a GB.

As I read the detail in your idea John I wonder whether you meant to put the idea forward as a definite proposal with yourself as host? If so you should perhaps start your own thread. This one is just for giving ideas away to anyone who wants to host a gb.

Thanks Dennis. I wonder if I saw it out of the corner of my eye?
