k5054nz
I'm curious to see if the kit has the OH-6A-correct large rear upper windows and smaller door as seen in the box art or the later, smaller top window-larger door as seen on the marking options and only used on all variants produced after the Loach. Corsairfoxfouruncle
SWEEEET !!!! He says in his best Jeremy Clarkson voice. My uncle was with the 1/9 Cavalry in 1967 (R.i.P) and the middle scheme is from said unit. Its also my favorite Helicopter series so may actually be a good option for my first helo in 35 years. Middo
Excellent. I have it on my Vietnam to do list to convert one of these to a 'Quiet One' used for covert ops, with elongated exhaust and five-bladed rotor, Maybe someone will offer a conversion kit.
Borisz
May I citate my earlier build of AZ's Cayuse? Just to let you know what do you mess with. I dont think that they refurbished the tools but if they did thats welcome.

Actually, Italeri gives you five rotor blades in their OH-6A, so a hub with five hangers would really be enough. By the way, a few months ago I paid a lot for this Italeri kit on Ebay - AZ could reissue these birds a bit more often 😠 . Giorgio N
Is there any advantage of this kit over the Italeri one ? I have the latter but could build another one

Dennis_C
I think main problem with the kit is that it needs surgery if you want to make a real Vietnam Cayuse with doors taken away. Also I suspect it does not capture all the nuances of different variants of its many users so some scratchbuilding and evidence study would be required. After all that is what makes the hobby real fun.
Blue Monday
I have the original AZ kit. It is basically a short-run version of the Italeri kit with all four doors attached. It also has the rain-drain over the doors which is something that was very rarely fitted. Only the Israeli Hughes 500M-D Defenders seemed to have it and just one or two other random operators. The original Italeri kit is probably the one to get if you are building an OH-6A. For an Israeli Defender, the AZ kit looks good. Out of the box, the AZ "OH-6A" actually builds up into a Hughes 500M, the export version of the OH-6A (Denmark/Japan to name two that can be built more-or-less from the box). BM. Dennis_C
The problem I had with Italeri was that its interior parts were noticeably smaller (!) than the the dimensions between side parts. So I had to add plastic to the floor part and somehow weirdly fit the wall behind the cockpit. I think mine still does not reach the ceiling. It feels like at some point Italeri made thinner fuselage sides but did not care about respective enlargement of interiors.

The AZ floor is small too.
GeejeeZ
I also consider the Italeri OH-6 the wise choice. Esp the landing gear and rotor head are much better. The landing gear and rotor head of the AZ kit are over scale.
