And my dad´s naval aviation theme continues.
Fine Molds kit oob, only added Eduard PE seatbelts, EZ Line for the antenna wire and plastic rods for the upper wing landing gear indicators.
Painted with AK Real Color IJN D1 Deep Green and AK Xtreme Metal White Aluminium. Did some postshading with clear smoke on the underside and tested the sponge method for chippin effects.

In 1940/41 the development of a more potent Zero successor started but was delayed several times. In the end the maiden flight of the Reppu was in 1944. Only few A7M1 and the more powerful M2 have been built.

In comparison with the Zero, the Reppu was a huge beast.

That looks lovely, especially the wear and tear!
The comparison with the Zero is also very interesting - you see many similarities between the two but also enough differences, so the Reppu isn't simply a scaled up Zero. Very cool!

The Reppu is one of your Dad's typically well built and equally well finished aircraft.  Using the Zero as a comparison aircraft was very enlightening as to the differences and similarities.  To me, it looks like some of the features of a Hellcat tossed together with some Corsair genes were mixed with a Zero to create this aircraft.  And, as always, your pictures are just so good at conveying how well your father builds kits.  Thanks for sharing.

Looks fantastic!  👏👏👏

It's a brute compared to the Zero.

I confess I did not know of the type before now.

Lovely build. I didn't realise how big it was compared to the zero, which looks great too :)
