Skodadriver Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 For cheatline lovers everywhere here is the Daco Skyline Boeing 737-400 finished as Icelandair’s TF-FIA circa 1991. It is the latest instalment of my project to build a model representing every European “flag carrier” airline. “Aldis” had a long career operating with Icelandair from 1989 until 2000, then joining Brussels Airlines and later various Spanish charter operators before finally ending up with Albawings who retired her in March this year at the age of 34. The Daco kit is a straightforward build apart from the usual issue of wing fit. I added etched brass pitots and a few small details from plastic sheet. Paint is Halfords Appliance Gloss White and Racking Grey. Metallics are by Tamiya and Revell. The blue on the engines is a by-the-eye mix of Citadel Caledor Sky and White Scar(!). Decals are by F-DCAL with Authentic Airliners windows. The livery decals were originally designed for the Minicraft kit and have never been updated so they needed a bit of nipping and tucking to fit the more accurate Daco model. The biggest issue was the incorrect position of the rear doors. Fortunately there was spare material for patching although it was a bit of a decal jigsaw puzzle. Details from the kit decal sheet completed the ensemble. Thanks for looking and constructive criticism is always welcome. Dave G 20 1
Turbofan Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 Hi Dave, Wow, I haven't built one model in two years and here you are with two models in two days! Outstanding! A very nice -400, but you can't really go wrong with the Daco 737s in my opinion. I have quite a few in the stash most of which are destined to be converted into -200s. I remember seeing this livery on 757s at Glasgow in the late 90s. Cheers, Ian 1
